Abstract This Regulation, as amended by Ontario Regulations 655/85 and 23/87, prescribes asbestos in all its forms as a designated substance. Exposure limits set for workplace air: TWA exposure - 0.5 fibres/cm3 (amosite), 0.2 fibres/cm3 (crocidolite), 1.0 fibre/cm3 (other asbestos); maximum concentration - 2.5 fibres/cm3 (amosite), 1.0 fibre/cm3 (crocidolite), 5.0 fibres/cm3 (other asbestos). Other aspects covered: responsibilities of employers; control programmes; monitoring; medical supervision; record keeping. Also included: code for respiratory equipment for asbestos; code for measuring airborne asbestos fibres; code for medical surveillance of asbestos-exposed workers.
