Abstract This Regulation prescribes benzene as a designated substance. Exposure limits set: TWA exposure - 16mg/m3 (recommended : 3.2mg/m3); maximum concentration - 48mg/m3. Responsibilities of employers, rights of workers, contents of a control programme and requirements for medical monitoring and record keeping are outlined. Also included in the publication: codes for respiratory equipment, measuring airborne benzene and medical surveillance of benzene-exposed workers.
