Abstract These regulations are effective 31 Oct. 1988. The Ingredient Disclosure List includes the names of 1736 chemical substances (in English and French alphabetic order), together with the corresponding CAS Registry Numbers and the minimum concentration (in %-weight/weight) above which the ingredient must be listed for products supplied in Canada to industry or individuals and under the control of the Hazardous Products Act. The Hazardous Materials Information Review Regulations establish criteria for determining the validity of a claim for exemptions from the Act of the same name. Annexed is a Regulatory Impact Analysis Statement related to WHMIS, a nationwide Canadian system designed to provide information on hazardous materials used in the workplace. Finally, the Controlled Products Regulations provide further details (requirements, definitions etc.) on material safety data sheets, labels and classes of control products. Appended are a schedule on information to be disclosed on a material safety data sheet, a schedule presenting hazard symbols with their meaning, and methods for the testing for flash points, for determining flammable solids that ignite readily and for determining the flashback and the length of the flame projection of products, materials and substances packaged in aerosol containers.
