Abstract Office consolidation. The Act (Chapter 0-1 of the Revised Statutes of Saskatchewan, 1978, as amended by Chapters 33 and 92, 1979-80) covers general aspects of occupational health and safety, including the duties and powers of the Occupational Health and Safety Branch and Council, the establishment and duties of occupational health committees and the right to refuse to work. The Regulations cover: duties of employers and workers; first aid and emergency arrangements; notification of occupational diseases and accidents; chemical substances; noise; silica; asbestos; machinery; warning signs; access, egress and ladders; personal protective equipment; powered mobile equipment; lifting appliances; rigging; scaffolding; excavations and trenches; heat, fire, explosion, hot work and confined spaces; electricity; demolition work; compressed air; diving; explosives; oil and gas drilling and servicing; forestry and sawmilling. Appendices include lists of required first-aid supplies, notifiable occupational diseases, carcinogenic substances, hazardous chemical substances, workplace contamination limits (8-hour and 15-min.) for ca. 600 substances, crane and hoist signals, dimensions for construction sites and absolute limits of approach to live electrical lines.
