Abstract These regulations specify the preventive measures to be taken by industrial physicians when workers are exposed to potentially harmful chemical, physical or biological agents, or to dangerous or heavy work. Employers are obliged to provide for the monitoring of exposed workers' health through preventive medical examinations (pre-employment and periodic examinations). General issues covered include: periodicity of examinations, approved physicians, medical certificates, decisions of the insurance association in case of legal action, health records, saving of certificates, follow-up measures after the examination, special measures when dealing with exposure to carcinogens. In the appendix: list of chemical and carcinogenic substances, of physical and biological agents, and of dangerous kinds of work requiring medical preventive measures according to these regulations. Enforcement rules and comments are given in the supplement.
