Abstract These building regulations apply to practically all buildings in Denmark, and include safety rules on: sufficient space in accessways (passages, ramps, stairways); appropriate guards, handrails and doors; fire precautions (distance between buildings, fire walls, fire exits, rescue facilities, structural requirements, fire fighting equipment, alarm systems, emergency lighting); thermal insulation; noise insulation; safety around fire-producing appliances and chimneys; ventilation systems. The Building Act (1975), as amended to 1982, is given in full. Methods of acoustic measurements are described.
