Abstract These regulations cover: mandatory pre-employment medical examinations (physical aptitude, health status); competent physicians (from the Guatemala Social Security Institute, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, or company doctors of fishing companies - the latter must comply with rules laid down by the above-mentioned Institute and Ministry); medical certificates; employers' duty to keep records; enforcing authorities (labour inspectorate); penalties under the Labour Code.
