Abstract This standard (entry into force: 1 June 1978) applies to plant, machinery, equipment, appliances, tools and accessories, subassemblies, elements, technical consumer goods and equipment for buildings. It does not apply to buildings, structures or work premises. It contains basic requirements, design principles, as well as requirements for technical safety and reliability, design with regard to maintenance and transport, and operating, control and monitoring devices. Provisions for occupational hazard prevention and protection are set out for 17 mechanical, physical, chemical and climatic hazards and for technical documentation for users.
