Abstract These regulations applicable to underground coal mines (entry into force: 1 Mar. 1977) prohibit all work at an effective temperature (ET) above 32°C and lay down maximum daily working hours above a dry-bulb temperature (DBT) of 28°C (6h) or ET of 29°C (5h). Other articles relate to special heat protective measures and acclimatisation to work at ET above 29°C, determination of climatic values and medical surveillance of miners working at DBT above 28°C or ET above 29°C.
