Abstract These directives (entry into force: 1 Oct. 1975) prescribe the safety precautions to be observed during the subsoil application of liquid ammonia. Contents: ammonia tanks (design, calculation of dimensions, notification and putting into operation, tank filling: liquid ammonia transfer); valves, cocks, fittings and accessories (safety and shut-off valves, liquid level and pressure gauges, piping); applicator unit (discharge hose and injection pipe); inspection, pressure testing; personal protection (respiratory protective equipment, eye protectors, gloves, etc.); training of personnel in safe working methods and first aid.
