Abstract These regulations, which entered into force on 1 Jan. 1974, are issued under section 56 of the Workers' Protection Act of 7 Dec. 1956. Aspects covered by the Regulations include: employers' and workers' responsibilities, safety engineering and organisation, notification of accidents, personal protective equipment, means of access, first aid, maintenance and supporting of roof, shotfiring, blasting, transport in shafts and galleries, ventilation, dust control, detection of harmful gases, fire prevention, lighting and posting of the Regulations. A list of safety directives and rules for underground work is appended.
