Abstract This act replaces the Inspection of Scaffolding Act, 1924 as subsequently amended on various occasions. It covers all construction work except that covered by the Mining Acts and the Petroleum Pipelines Act. It is designed to promote the safety and welfare of workmen, to provide for advice to employers and workmen on safe practices and to arrange for investigation of accidents. Individual sections are devoted to: preliminary provisions; administration (duties and powers of inspectors, offences, establishment of a Construction Safety Advisory Board, etc.); provisions relating to the safety and welfare of persons engaged in construction and other work (scaffolding, protective equipment, artificial lighting, etc.).
