Abstract This ministerial resolution bans all use of chrysotile asbestos in Argentina as of 1 Jan. 2003. Some chrysotile-containing materials (textiles, paper, carton, plastic, filters, joints, pastes, paints and insulation) are totally banned within 60 days of the publication of this Resolution. On the other hand, chrysotile-containing materials may be authorized for a period of 1 year after its prohibition, with possibility of renewal, in cases where their replacement is not feasible or where no replacement exists in the market.
