The project has completed its main goals, but the extension will allow the project to continue its advocacy of the new national skills development system and engage more stakeholders in implementing the National Skills Development Policy.

Arthur Shears, former Chief Technical Advisor of the project said that apart from advocacy work, another key focus will be arranging translation of key strategy and policy documents as well as competency based learned materials into Bangla to increase their usability.

There are also various closing activities required by the donor and government after eight years of operation, which focus on the sustainability of project initiatives, he noted.

It is understood that the European Union, the primary funder of the project, is considering a follow-up project that could start as early as January 2016.
