  1. Green Jobs in Asia Regional Conference

    20 - 22 June 2012, Singgasana Hotel Surabaya, Surabaya, Indonesia

    On 20-22 June 2012, a tripartite regional workshop will discuss the Green Jobs in Asia project to highlight successful approaches, areas of improvement and the way forward. Representatives from GJA will include Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. They will be joined by additional countries with Green Jobs experience: China, Fiji, India and Thailand.

  2. Green Jobs Foundation Training

    18 - 19 April 2012, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    Main purpose of the foundation training is to serve as a basic awareness raising and knowledge enhancing activity for the ILO constituents.

  3. Foundation Training: Green Jobs in Asia Project

    18 - 19 April 2012, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    The two-day long foundation training on “Green Jobs in Asia Project” would be held on 18 – 19 April 2012 at the Spectra Convention Centre, Gulshan, Dhaka. The training is going to be organized by ILO to have its constituents and other stakeholders to a better understanding on Green Jobs.

  4. National Conference on Youth Employment in Bangladesh

    8 April 2012, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    A National Conference on Youth Employment in Bangladesh was held on 08 April 2012 at Hotel Ruposi Bangla in Dhaka. The conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and ILO, provided a very good platform for stakeholders to highlight the importance of youth employment issues and priorities in Bangladesh and way forward.

  5. High-Level Tripatriate Meeting to present the Diagnostic Report on FOA & CB and develop the National Plan of Action

    29 February 2012, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    For presentation of the diagnostic assessment report on ‘Towards full freedom of association and collective bargaining in Bangladesh garment factories’ and to develop a national plan of action, the meeting was held on 28 February 2012 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.

  6. Seminar on Sustainable Development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts

    22 - 29 February 2012, Chittagong, Bangladesh

    The changing socio-economic and environmental situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts was at the centre of discussion at the seminar on sustainable development, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs and Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) with support from ILO and UNDP. The seminar took place on January 24 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka.

  7. National Consultation Workshop on Promoting Gender Equality in TVET in Bangladesh

    10 January 2012, Chittagong, Bangladesh

    The workshop was one of the first initiatives of the newly-formed NSDC Secretariat and the CEO; Mr Jiban Kumar Chowdhury took an active role in leading the proceedings and promoting the role of the Secretariat among key TVET stakeholders in Bangladesh.

  1. Final tripartite consultation on Maritime Labour Convention(MLC)2006.

    20 December 2011, Chittagong, Bangladesh

    Final tripartite consultation on Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 was held at Bangladesh Institute of Administration & Management (BIAM) Foundation, Dhaka on 20 December, 2011. Mr Shajahan Khan, MP, Minister for Shipping was present at the consultation as the Chief Guest.

  2. Tripartite Workshop on Maritime Labour Convention 2006

    10 December 2011, Chittagong, Bangladesh

    Ministry of Labour and Employment, ILO Country Office, and Bangladesh Marine Academy jointly organized a technical workshop on Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 on 10 December 2011. The main objective of the workshop was to share the gap analysis between MLC and the relevant national legal instruments with the Stakeholders.

  3. Tripartite Workshop on Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification (STED) Research Findings: Agro-Processing Sector and Pharmaceutical Sector

    7 - 8 December 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    International Labour Organization (ILO) and Bangladesh Employers' Federation (BEF) jointly organized a technical workshop on the research findings of a study on the agro-processing sector and the pharmaceuticals sector. The workshop was held on 7 and 8 December 2011 at the BEF Conference Hall in Dhaka. The workshop intended to share the preliminary findings on skill demands for current and future needs of two important export sectors: agro-processing and pharmaceuticals industry.

  4. Final National Consultative Workshop on Formulation of National Plan of Action for Implementation of the National Child Labour Elimination Policy, 2010

    The final National Consultative Workshop on Formulation of the National Plan of Action (NPA) for Implementing the National Child Labour Elimination Policy, 2010 held on 5th December 2011 at Hotel Purbani, Dhaka

  5. Training of the Trainer on Solar Home System

    21 November - 7 December 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    Four ToTs for solar technicians and entrepreneurs will be conducted from 21 November to 7 December 2011. Each batch comprises of 25 trainees. The trainees are instructors from BMET, GS and staffs from other SHS service providers of the country.

  6. Launch of Understanding Children’s Work Country Report in Bangladesh

    17 - 17 November 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    "ILO, UNICEF, the World Bank, and UCW program launed its Inter Agency Country Report on Understanding Children's Work in Bangladesh on 17 November 2011 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.

  7. First meeting of the Policy Working Group on Assessing and Addressing the Effects of Trade on Employment(ETE).

    13 October 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    The first meeting of the Policy Working Group on Assessing and Addressing the Effects of Trade on Employment (ETE) was held on 13 October at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Ghulam Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Mr. Shafique Alam Mehdi, Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment. Mr André Bogui, Director, ILO Country Office for Bangladesh delivered the welcome speech.

  8. Signing Ceremony for the Project Document of "Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh"

    5 October 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    Signing Ceremony of the Project Document at the Economic Relations Division (ERD), Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, between the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and International Labour Organization (ILO) & Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to implement the project titled “Promoting Decent Work through Improved Migration Policy and its Application in Bangladesh”on 5 October 2011.

  9. Tripartite National Conference on Green Jobs: The Way Forward

    18 September 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    The conference will provide a platform for stakeholders (especially constituents and social partners) to improve awareness and understanding on the green jobs concepts and priorities in Bangladesh and to provide recommendation for way forward.

  10. Tripartite Technical Workshop on Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification (STED)

    An ILO Workshop on “Tripartite Workshop on Skills for Trade and Economic Diversification (STED)” was held on 8 September 2011 at Chilis Chinese Restaurant in Dhaka. The workshop intended to share the preliminary findings on skill demands for current and future needs of two important export sectors: agro-processing and pharmaceuticals industry.

  11. First National Consultative Workshop on Formulation of National Plan of Action for Implementation of the National Child Labour Elimination Policy, 2010

    12 July 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    The first national consultation workshop on formulation of the National Plan of Action (NPA) for implementation of the National Child Labour Elimination Policy, 2010 (NCLEP 2010 was held on 12 July 2011 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.

  12. New tools in efforts to address child labour in Bangladesh

    29 - 29 June 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) launched on Jun 29, 2011 a Child Labour Management Information System (CLMIS) and its Child Labour Unit's Website. The CLMIS and Website were developed with technical assistance of the ILO-UIE Project. Mr Shafique Alam, Secretary, MoLE, Mr Alphons Hennekens, Ambassador of the Embassy of the Netherlands, and Mr Andre Bogui, Director, ILO Country Office for Bangladesh, attended the event.

  13. World Day Against Child Labour - 2011

    11 - 11 June 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    On the eve of the 10th World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) 12 June 2011, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) took the lead to observe WDACL under the theme "Warning! Children in hazardous work - End child labour".
