National Conference on Youth Employment in Bangladesh

A National Conference on Youth Employment in Bangladesh was held on 08 April 2012 at Hotel Ruposi Bangla in Dhaka. The conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and ILO, provided a very good platform for stakeholders to highlight the importance of youth employment issues and priorities in Bangladesh and way forward.

A National Conference on Youth Employment in Bangladesh was held on 08 April 2012 at Hotel Ruposi Bangla in Dhaka. The conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and ILO, provided a very good platform for stakeholders to highlight the importance of youth employment issues and priorities in Bangladesh and way forward.

Mr. Md. Ahad Ali Sarkar MP, Hon’ble State Minister for Youth and Sports inaugurated the conference. Other who spoke included Mr. Mahbub Ahmed, Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Mikail Shiper, Secretary Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr. Andre Bogui, Country Director of ILO Country Office for Bangladesh, representatives of employers and workers, and youth organizations.

Participants to the conference included government officials from the ministries and departments, representatives of employers and workers, NGOs, research institutions, development partners, youth organizations and young people themselves.
