National Consultation on Advancing Respnsible Business Practices on Child Protection From Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism

An event was organized by Protecting Environment and Children Everywhere (PEaCE) and ECPAT Sri Lanka, co-hosted by SLTDA (under Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs), South Asia Initiative to End Violence Against Children (SAARC SAIEVAC), ILO, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lankan Airlines, and SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event focused on sexual exploitation of children and the ILO joined as one of the panel discussant. At the event, the ILO announced that a study on commercial sexual exploitation of children will be launched at the end of the first quarter in 2018. The ILO further suggested stakeholders to make a pledge to eradicate CSEC in Sri Lanka at the launch event. Dr. Rinchen Chophel, Director General, South Asia Initiative to End Violence Against Children (SAIEVAC), agreed to support this initiative through the government, line ministries, and relevant agencies.
