PORT OF SPAIN (ILO News) - An International Labour Organization seminar on social security for professional staff of the National Insurance Board of Trinidad and Tobago (NIBTT) was held on 4 and 5 November 2010, in Port of Spain. The seminar was attended by professionals from all units of the NIBTT as well as by its top management. Amongst others, the seminar addressed social security policy issues, social security financing, the role of social security, social assistance and social protection schemes in the construction of a “Social Protection Floor” for all and the new trends in social security development. Dr. Alejandro Bonilla Garcia, Chief of Education, Training and Skills Development, Department of Social Protection, ILO, Geneva facilitated the seminar. The ILO has been providing support to the NIBTT in the conduct of its Actuarial Reviews over the years.
