National Educational Seminar on Actions for Achieving SDG Target 8.7 – Eliminating Child Labour and Worst Forms of Child Labour by 2025
The training will include a mix of live, highly interactive, online sessions hosted via Zoom; and self-paced learning materials and discussion boards.
Purpose:
The Government of Barbados has established as its overall objective to build national capacity for the design and delivery of interventions to address the prevention and elimination of child labour and especially the worst forms of child labour in Barbados, towards the achievement of SDG Target 8.7.Specific objectives:
- to improve the awareness and understanding of key national officials and stakeholders on child labour and Worst Forms of Child Labour , especially in the context of recovery from Covid -19, and ;
- to initiate national discussions for the review and update of previous national strategies on child labour and for national and regional progress towards “complete elimination of child labour in all its forms by 2025.”(SDG 8.7)
Target Participants:
The main target participants identified for the seminar include officials in the Barbados labour inspectorate, law enforcement officers, social workers and public sector educators. The participation of key social partners (workers and employers organisations), civil society actors and other UN officials from agencies such as UNICEF based in Barbados (which has a mandate for children’s protection and development).Eliminating child labour: An eLearning course for labour inspectors and child labour monitors
