Tripartite Caribbean Symposium on ‘Tripartism and Social Dialogue: Comparative Experiences in dealing with Economic and Social Development Issues

The Symposium provided an opportunity for constituents in the sub-region to discuss the dimensions of social dialogue and the potential for using social dialogue and tripartism to deal with specific topics of relevance to the Caribbean.

The Tripartite Caribbean Symposium on ‘Tripartism and Social Dialogue: Comparative Experiences in dealing with Economic and Social Development Issues’, organized by the Government and Social Partners of Barbados and the International Labour Organization, brought together tripartite representatives from 13 ILO member States and 9 non-metropolitan territories of the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean. The Symposium provided an opportunity for constituents in the sub-region to discuss the dimensions of social dialogue and the potential for using social dialogue and tripartism to deal with specific topics of relevance to the Caribbean. These topics included the advancement of national economic and social development and the regional integration process, the enhancement of productivity, and maximizing the benefits of external trade agreements.
