    A National Tripartite Conference was organized on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the ILO on 3-4 September 2009, in Budapest, Hungary with the participation of high level representatives of the Hungarian government, workers' and employers' organizations, ILO officials, academics, representatives of UN agencies, etc. The conference assessed the role of the ILO in the transition of Central and Eastern European countries. Participants agreed that the ILO played an important role in establishing and strengthening social dialogue and tripartism in Hungary and also in the region.

  1. Launch of the Code of Conduct for Employers on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Agriculture and the Food Industry

    On 19 December the Council of the National Federation of Employers in Agriculture and Food Industry (FNPAIA) in Moldova unanimously endorsed a Code of Conduct for Employers on the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labour in Agriculture and the Food Industry with the support of the Bureau for Employers Activities (ACT/EMP) of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The Code was the result of a three year long project funded by the Norwegian Government.

  1. ILO Regional Meeting expands social agenda for Europe and Central Asia

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) concluded its 7th European Regional Meeting here today with agreement among tripartite representatives from the region's 50 member States to "work together through dialogue and cooperation to promote a common future of democracy, economic prosperity and social justice".
