  1. EU4Business ILO project supported start-ups in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Stories of beneficiaries

    Within the EU4Business project, with EU funding, the ILO promoted inter-municipal cooperation to provide inclusive support to start-ups in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Local Employment Partnership established cooperation among three municipalities (Jablanica, Konjic and Kakanj) to support vulnerable groups to register and run their own businesses. Technical support included entrepreneurship training based on the ILO Start and Improve Your Business methodology. Financial support meant grants for the registration and operation of new businesses. Over 110 individuals from vulnerable categories (long term unemployed women, youth, persons with disabilities and persons over 50 years of age) received entrepreneurship training that resulted in the registration of 36 new businesses and generated over 40 new jobs.

    New challenges for TVET and skills development - what do you want to learn today?

    The importance of learning new skills has never been as evident as in the last year. Almost overnight, all of the global workforce had to admit they faced challenges with their digital skills. We had to switch to new ways of managing work and doing business, of participating in learning and delivering education and training to young people and adults alike. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education and skills development systems has been profound. Teachers, coordinators and policy makers discovered the challenges, but also the opportunities of applying digital learning technologies.

  3. Social security and COVID-19: Which measures were effective in protecting workers?

    The recent ILO report reviews the national social security measures in response to the COVID-19 crisis, analyses their effectiveness, and discusses future challenges in improving the social security systems. The report covers seven countries in the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine.

    ILO/EBRD assessment report says COVID-19 threatens 245,000 jobs in Bosnia and Herzegovina

    In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the ILO Office for Central and Eastern Europe and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, jointly assessed the impact of the crisis on the Western Balkan labour markets. The latest impact assessment report is on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Reports on North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia were published last year.

  7. COVID-19 and the World of Work: Assessment of the Employment Impacts and Policy Responses BOSNIA and HERZEGOVINA

    The report shows that due to the lockdowns related to the pandemic, Bosnia and Herzegovina registered job losses higher than the average in the six Western Balkan economies. It offers five policy options for supporting enterprises, jobs, and incomes during the reactivation phase.

  10. COVID-19 response: EU4Business recovery in Bosnia and Herzegovina

    The overall objective of the project is to provide emergency support to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to ensure their business continuity, retain more than 1000 jobs, and create at least 100 new jobs.
