  1. Promising results at half time: ILO comes out with mid-term evaluation of Local Employment Partnerships

    An internal mid-term evaluation of the ILO Local Employment Partnerships (LEP) program in Bosnia and Herzegovina shows that the EU funded project has proven to be a laboratory for designing local and customized solutions for employment challenges in municipalities or regions of the country. Through a competitive call more than 150 project applications were received. The best 15 proposals received a grant for implementing their proposals and have started to train unemployed with the objective of reintegrating them into the labour market.

    The ILO's World Employment and Social Outlook: Trends 2018 takes stock of the current global labour market situation. The report launched during the recent annual meeting of the World Economic Forum raises concerns about the ability of the global economy to generate sufficient jobs. For Central and Eastern Europe the report states that the rebound of economic growth does not lead to major employment increase.

    On December 13th and 14th Employers’ Associations hold for the first time ever an international meeting with support from the ILO’s Bureau for Employers’ Activities discussing how to support the Sustainable Development Goals often refered to as Agenda 2030. The meeting held in Belgrade highlighted that SDGs are not only good for business, but can also be good business.
