The workshop will take place on Wednesday, 9 October 2019, from 09:00 to 16:00 in Hotel Bloom, Rue Royale 250, 1210 Brussels.
In a political context where job creation has become so prominent, we aim to raise awareness of the available tools to design policies and investments that maximize job creation in developing countries.
The importance of decent employment is overwhelming and is a cornerstone of Agenda 2030. Having work and income, and especially decent work and a fair income, is crucial to individual and societal well-being, contributing to improved living conditions, poverty reduction and social cohesion. However, economic growth on its own does not guarantee sufficient quality jobs.
The ILO has been implementing an EU funded project to ‘STRENGTHEN’ the capabilities of countries to analyse and design sector and trade policies and programmes that enhance employment creation for more and better jobs. The project has developed tools and methods for assessing the impact on employment globally and in 9 developing countries: Benin, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco, Myanmar, Philippines and Rwanda.
This workshop is aimed at partner country representatives, EU institutions and EU Member State development agencies, policymakers, international organisations and financial institutions, development practitioners, relevant civil society and academia.
The language of the workshop is English, with French and Spanish interpretation.
