European Economic and Social Committee

The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a consultative body of the European Union and consists of representatives of employers, workers and other civil society organisations. It has a bridge function between Europe and the civil society organisations. The EESC enables civil society organisations from the EU Member States to express their views at European level.

On 1st December 2005, a joint declaration was signed between the European Economic and Social Committee and the ILO on the strengthening of relations and cooperation between the two institutions.
