Belgium (Wallonia-Brussels)

Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) is the public administration responsible for international policy for the Walloon region and for the French speaking communities in Belgium (Wallonia-Brussels Federation and French Community Commission in Brussels). WBI has cooperated with the ILO International Training Centre (ITCILO) since 1990. The monitoring of this cooperation is ensured by the Wallonia-Brussels Delegation in Geneva.

In April 2011, the ILO and WBI signed a new agreement on a work programme for 2011-2012. The agreement includes funding for training activities to be implemented by the ITCILO in three priority countries, namely the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Burundi.

Four areas have been indicated as priorities for 2011-2012:
  • Capacity building of trade unions
  • Support to social dialogue in Great Lakes region
  • Capacity building of employers' organizations in Africa to participate in social dialogue and enhance competitiveness
  • Fight against discrimination and gender equality
In addition, WBI confirmed the continuation of funding internships at the ITCILO under the International Traineeships Programme of WBI.
