At the occasion of this Conference Debate on Social Protection, Mr Martin Hirsch, Member of the Advisory Group on Social Protection, presented the findings of the “Social Protection Floor for a fair and inclusive globalization” report. The Director of ILO-Brussels not only presented the ILO’s initiatives on strengthening the coverage of social protection as a response to the financial, economic and social crisis, he also informed the European Parliament on the upcoming June International Labour Conference that will discuss a Recommendation on social protection floors. Ms Pervenche Béres welcomed the growing interest in social protection.
