  1. Workshop to present and discuss the results of the labour force survey of Palestinians living in refugee camps and selected gatherings in Lebanon

    The workshop will basically present and discuss the survey results. It aims to have focused deliberations over the labour force data and suggest means for efficient utilization of this information in advocating for better employment conditions and improved legislations for Palestinians’ right to work.

    Within the framework of the ILO project "Tripartite Action for Youth Employment in Jordan", a two-day workshop will be organized to identify priorities and agree on steps to be taken to upgrade apprenticeships and promote youth employment.

  1. ILO Regional Tripartite Conference on Promoting Convention 189: Raising Awareness and Sharing Knowledge

    22 - 24 October 2012

    The International Labour Organization will be organizing a tripartite knowledge-sharing conference on Decent Work for Domestic Workers. The purpose of this conference is to raise awareness on the ILO’s Convention No. 189 and Recommendation 201 and support efforts towards ratification and implementation.

  2. Promoting Migrant Workers' Rights in Jordan: Dialogue with Foreign Missions and Consulates

    2 - 3 October 2012

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA) will be organizing a two-day dialogue meeting with foreign affairs missions and consulates in Jordan to build transnational alliances to promote and protect the rights of migrant workers.

    The ILO and the Ministry of Labour in Lebanon will jointly launch a consultative process to discuss the opportunities and challenges for Decent Work in Lebanon towards promoting job creation, increasing productivity and wages, and enhancing social protection.

  1. Enhancing NGO and Media Engagement in the Campaign for Migrant Domestic Workers’ Rights

    Over the last 6 years, civil society organizations (CSOs) have launched campaigns to sensitize the Lebanese public to the working and living conditions of women migrant domestic workers (WMDWs) in Lebanon. These campaigns have portrayed WMDWs as victims in need of protection and their employers as tormentors in need of self-restraint.

  2. World Day Against Child Labour

    Each year on 12 June, the International Labour Organization (ILO) calls on its member States and the international community to identify ways and means of putting the spotlight on global efforts to eliminate child labour. This year, the World Day Against Child Labour will focus on child labour elimination as an integral component of the broader human rights and social justice framework, specifically the protection of all children from all violations of their fundamental human rights.

  1. Social Protection Floor in Jordan

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Social Security Corporation in Jordan will be organizing in collaboration with UNICEF and WHO a national conference on the Establishment of a Social Protection Floor in Jordan on Tuesday 29 May 2012 at the Social Security Corporation premises (Amman, Mecca Street), to assist the Government of Jordan in the progressive extension of social protection measures through introducing the social protection floor initiative.
