Employment support services

ILO and Jordanian ministries work on improving employment support services to facilitate access to decent jobs in host communities

Stakeholders to discuss ways of improving labour market data collection in effort to boost job matching.

Newly established employment units in the Ministries of Health, Communication, Industry and Trade, Tourism and Public Works and Housing has been set to help improve employment support services for Jordanian communities.

The Ministry of Labour, supported by the ILO, is training representatives from these ministries on ways to improve coordination between government and private institutions in identifying current labour market needs and addressing imbalances in various sectors, through the newly established units.

During a one-day workshop, the ILO with the Ministry of Labour will meet partners from the ministries’ employment units, as well as representatives from the private sector and data providers. They will discuss ways of pooling information to form a more coherent and comprehensive data-base of labour market trends, which will ultimately serve to match more job seekers with employers.

The ILO has been implementing a project entitled ‘Enhancing access to employment opportunities and livelihoods in host communities’, which aims to address pre-existing employment and labour market challenges, exacerbated by the Syrian refugee crisis.
