Jordan labour inspectors complete modern labour inspection training

Labour inspectors in Jordan will train other civil servants in international labour inspection standards related to child labour, migrant workers, forced labour, gender as well as occupational health and safety.

Labour inspectors from the Ministry of Labour and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, as well representatives from employer and worker organizations are to complete a three-part training-of-trainers course administered by the ILO. Upon completion of the course participants will have the capacity to transfer knowledge of international labour inspection standards to other civil servants. The final training session will evaluate participants on previous modules and further methods to enhance and develop labour inspections in Jordan. Participants who succeed in a final evaluation will have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake modern labour inspections in accordance with ILO standards on issues related to child labour, migrant workers, forced labour, gender as well as occupational health and safety.

The training sessions aim to realize one of the main objectives of the ILO project “Promotion of the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority”, which aims to strengthen and modernise the labour inspection systems as well as empower inspectors to perform their duties in line with ILO standards.
