Job Description of Labour Ministry Social Workers in Lebanon

A consultation workshop to discuss the ILO draft job description of labour ministry social workers tasked with protection of migrant domestic labour rights in Lebanon.

Workshop Overview

Within the framework of the European Union funded project; “Promoting Rights of Women Domestic Workers (PROWD)”, the International Labour Organization (ILO) will hold a consultation workshop to discuss job descriptions drafted by the ILO for social workers at the Ministry of Labour in Lebanon. The workshop will take place on Thursday, August 29 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The Ministry of Labour in Lebanon (MOL) has identified a number of social workers to provide support to migrant domestic workers and mediate between workers and employers in cases of conflict. Accordingly, the ILO has drawn up a job description for these social workers in line with international labour standards and the ILO’s Decent Work Agenda.

The aim of the workshop will be to gather the input of international experts, non-governmental organizations and public officials involved in the protection of migrant domestic workers’ rights in order to finalize job descriptions for social workers at the MOL. Representatives from the MOL, the Ministry of Social Affairs and various NGOs that provide services to migrant domestic workers will also attend the workshop.
