Regional Tripartite Conference to Combat Human Trafficking
A two-day regional tripartite conference on ways to combat human trafficking in the Middle East and to present the findings of an ILO research project that maps human trafficking across the region.
In 2011, the International Labour Organization embarked on a regional research project in collaboration with Heartland Alliance, with the objective of mapping the processes of human trafficking in the Middle East. This two-day conference brings together government, workers’ and employers’ representatives, academic institutions and civil society organizations to address the issue of human trafficking in the Middle East and look at the findings of the regional study entitled “Tricked and Trapped: Human Trafficking in the Middle East.”
Objectives:
- Present and discuss the findings of the regional study;
- Discuss the nexus between labour migration governance and human trafficking;
- Engage ILO constituents and partners about the possibility of future technical cooperation to combat human trafficking and forced labour.
