SCORE is a modular training programme that focuses on developing cooperative relations at the workplace. The five SCORE modules cover workplace cooperation, quality management, clean production, human resource management, and occupational health and safety. Each of the modules includes a joint, two-day classroom training for managers and workers and follow-up consultations with experts in the participating enterprises.
In SCORE Phase I (2009-2013), SCORE China has worked with China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) in Liaoning, Chongqing, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Shanghai. The main target sectors included manufacturing of machines, auto parts and garments
The development objective of SCORE Phase II for China is that National institutions are providing, independently from the ILO and donor funding, SCORE training to SMEs to improve their working conditions, productivity and competitiveness.
The immediate objectives are that at the end of this project:
- National training institutions organize SCORE training for SMEs on a cost-recovering basis;
- Service providers deliver effective SCORE training and consulting to SMEs; and
- Increased awareness of responsible workplace practices at the local, national and global level.
SCORE’s ultimate beneficiaries are workers and managers in SMEs with high job creation potential and significant decent work deficits including gender discrimination. The targeted SMEs have approximately 50-500 employees.
