Joint ILO/UNISDR/NEMA/MONEF Consultative Meeting and Training on Public-Private Strategies for Disaster Resilience and Mitigation for SMEs in Mongolia

The consultative meeting and training are part of wider efforts to develop a set of tools that can be deployed specifically for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in disaster risk reduction (DRR) strategies in Mongolia.

ILO 2017
The resilience capacity building of SMEs-which account for over 98 percent of businesses in Mongolia, is an important but neglected aspect of community resilience building, as is evidenced by SME surveys consistently showing only a small fraction of SMEs being aware of simple DDR tools such as risk assessments and business continuity planning. In cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), Mongolia’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Mongolian Employers’ Federation (MONEF), the ILO, therefore, is organizing this workshop to create awareness and initiate consultations among the private sector through business organizations and their members to develop sustainable solutions to help small enterprises (and their workers) better prepare their business for natural disasters and mitigate the negative affects they cause.
