The ILO publishes a wide range of books, reports, working papers, training manuals, CD-ROMs, videos and flash movies, relevant to Asia and the Pacific. Some of these can be downloaded directly. Others can be requested or purchased in hard copy from the ILO Knowledge Centre in Bangkok.

  1. Green jobs in the South Pacific: a preliminary study

    This report has been prepared in the context of the Green Jobs Initiative, an initiative launched in 2007 by the ILO in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the International Organization of Employers (IOE). Through concerted effort by governments, employers and trade unions, the Green Jobs Initiative aims to promote research and awareness, enhance the capacity of ILO constituents,develop policies and measures to achieve green jobs and green workplaces and facilitate a “just transition” that reflects the environmental, economic and social pillars of sustainable development.

  2. Child labour in Fiji: a survey of working children in commercial sexual exploitation, on the streets, in rural agricultural communities, in informal and squatter settlements and in schools

    A summary report of five child labour research surveys conducted in Fiji through the ILO International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC). The report provides an overview of the processes, key findings and recommendations of the surveys.

  5. Managing Cross-border Movement of Labour in Southeast Asia

    The project aims to protect migrant workers by developing a knowledge base on migration issues for policy makers and building up the capacity of governments to manage orderly labour migration. It advocates for sound national labour migration policies, assists with raising migrant workers’ awareness of their rights, helps them access legal systems, promotes low-cost, efficient remittance systems, and supports skills training and enterprise development.

  6. Effective Implementation of National OSH Programme for Improving Safety and Health at the Workplace in Viet Nam

    The ILO works to foster a preventative safety and health culture by strengthening national occupational safety and health (OSH) systems. This includes labour inspections, occupational injury reporting, training, and national OSH campaigns and programmes.

    This policy paper covers the key issues and the policy challenges confronting Cambodia in managing cross-border movement of labour and in protection of Khmer migrant workers. The paper examines the medium-term employment and demographic outlook in Cambodia, looking at the migration pressure and the opportunities rendered from labour migration. The policy challenges are grouped into the governance of labour migration, the protection and empowerment of migrant workers, and the harnessing of labour migration for economic development.
