While the methodology’s point is to create an association that provides value to its members, the emphasis is on doing so while increasing the inclusion of women as members and as high-ranking officials and raising their confidence to participate more actively. The content, particularly the examples and case studies, are drawn from actual experiences within Cambodia and Lao People’s Democratic Republic; these experiences were obtained through interviews with local entrepreneurs and organizations working on enterprise development. A variety of consultants from international and local non-government organizations and business organizations and representatives of the government and of employers shaped the final content to reflect the local situation and a gender perspective.
