Programmes and projects

The ILO operates a wide range of programmes and projects in Asia Pacific focusing on relief and development challenges. The overall purpose of this technical cooperation is to support implementation of the Decent Work agenda in each country.

  1. Vision Zero Fund

    1 June 2016 - 1 June 2020

    The G7-initiated Vision Zero Fund initiative (VZF) aims to prevent work-related deaths, injuries and diseases in global supply chains.

  3. Promoting and building social protection in Asia (3rd phase): Extending social security coverage in ASEAN

    1 March 2016 - 31 July 2019

    Building on the achievements of the past two phases of the ILO/Japan Project on Promoting and Building Social Protection in Asia (2011-2013 and 2014-2016), and the solid partnership with ASEAN Member States, a third phase of the Project is here proposed, as a component too of the ILO’s Global Flagship Programme on Building Social Protection Floors for all.

  4. Promoting Rights of People with Disabilities in Indonesia (UN Partnership to Promote the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - UNPRPD) - Phase II

    1 March 2016 - 31 August 2017

    The Project aims to have advanced policies adopted on rights of people with disabilities promoted through stronger disability institutions and improved disability data collection.

  5. Developing International and Internal Labour Migration Governance in Myanmar

    1 February 2016 - 31 December 2020

    The people of Myanmar have long used migration as a survival strategy; for safe refuge and for livelihood. Those who have migrated not only support themselves but also try to remit enough money to allow their families and communities to manage.

  6. Ship to Shore Rights

    1 February 2016 - 31 March 2020

    The Ship to Shore Rights Project, funded by the European Union, works with the Thai Government, employers’ organizations, workers’ organizations and buyers towards the prevention and reduction of unacceptable forms of work in Thailand’s fishing and seafood industries.

  7. Protecting the Rights of Migrant Workers through Empowerment and Advocacy (MWEA)

    1 February 2016 - 31 December 2026

    Migrant Workers Empowerment and Advocacy (MWEA) project aims to ensure that the rights of migrant workers are protected in Malaysia.

  8. Strengthening the Impact of Trade on Employment in the Philippines (STRENGTHEN)

    1 February 2016 - 1 October 2019

    The project aims to strengthen the employment dimension in policies and programmes related to international trade with better analysis, more coherent policy-making, and enhanced programmes that are designed to encourage employment creation and upgrading. This project will support the Philippines in harnessing international trade, providing more opportunities for decent work within the country and raising the number of workers who are productively employed.

  9. Combatting Unacceptable Forms of Work in the Thai Fishing and Seafood Industry

    1 February 2016 - 31 July 2019

    The project aims to prevent and reduce forced labour, child labour and other unacceptable forms of work, and progressively eliminate the exploitation of workers, particularly migrant workers, in the Thai fishing and seafood processing sectors.

  10. Employment Generation and Livelihoods through Reconciliation in Sri Lanka

    1 January 2016 - 30 September 2018

    The EGLR project through its’ innovative work on creating and fostering partnerships at different levels will play a pioneering role in harnessing a positive impact in terms of economic growth, jobs, incomes and cross-community dialogue.

  11. Application of Migration Policy for Decent Work for Migrant Workers

    1 January 2016 - 31 December 2021

    The project will help the Government of Bangladesh to operationalize policy and legal measures developed by earlier ILO initiatives, including, the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Policy 2016 and the Overseas Employment and Migrants Act 2013.

  12. Sustaining GSP-Plus Status by Strengthened National Capacities to Improve ILS Compliance and Reporting

    31 December 2015 - 31 March 2018

    Pakistan is a GSP+ beneficiary country since January, 2014. Continuity and sustenance of this trade for development facility is conditioned to better compliance and reporting of twenty-seven international standards including the eight Fundamental Labour Standards. This project funded by the European Union, aims to strengthen the capacities of Federal and Provincial Governments in better compliance and reporting of the Fundamental Labour Standards

  13. Convening Actors to Develop and Implement Strategies to Reduce Child Labour and Improve Working Conditions in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (CARING GOLD MINING PROJECT)

    11 December 2015 - 31 October 2019

    Funded by the United States Department of Labor (USDOL), the four-year project will address child labour, decent work deficits and working conditions in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) in the Philippines, specifically in Camarines Norte as pilot province.

  14. TRIANGLE in ASEAN – Thailand
