Programmes and projects

The ILO operates a wide range of programmes and projects in Asia Pacific focusing on relief and development challenges. The overall purpose of this technical cooperation is to support implementation of the Decent Work agenda in each country.

  1. ILO Aceh-Nias Tsunami Response Programme

    1 January 2005 - 31 December 2008

    The project aims to contribute to international and national efforts to rebuild the people’s livelihood and the provinces’ economies in the post-tsunami period.

  2. Improving Access to Entrepreneurship and Business Management for People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA)

    1 January 2005 - 31 December 2008

    The two immediate objectives of this project are to improve the livelihoods of PLWHA and their families by improving access to entrepreneurship and business start-up training and to improve the entrepreneurship and business management capabilities of PLWHA by enabling them to identify business opportunities and start a business.

  3. HIV and AIDS and Indonesian Migrant Workers Project

    1 January 2005 - 31 December 2008

    The main objective of the project is to contribute to the prevention of HIV and AIDS and the reduction of its adverse consequences on social, labour and economic development by addressing HIV and AIDS prevention among migrant workers.

  4. Managing Cross-border Movement of Labour in Southeast Asia

    1 January 2005 - 31 December 2010

    The project aims to protect migrant workers by developing a knowledge base on migration issues for policy makers and building up the capacity of governments to manage orderly labour migration. It advocates for sound national labour migration policies, assists with raising migrant workers’ awareness of their rights, helps them access legal systems, promotes low-cost, efficient remittance systems, and supports skills training and enterprise development.

  5. Timor Leste: Skills Training for Gainful Employment Programme (STAGE)

    The ILO STAGE Programme is to reduce poverty and promote economic growth, building national capacity to deliver a demand driven enterprise and skills training, and contributing to the establishment and development of income generating activities within communities.

  6. ILO/Korea Partnership Programme

    1 October 2003 - 31 December 2012

    The ILO/Korea Partnership Programme, which has been operational since 2004, works to support the aims of the Asian Decent Work Decade. In particular it focuses on the regional priority areas of competitiveness, productivity and jobs; labour market governance and social protection; and labour migration.

  7. The ILO Mekong Sub-regional Project to Combat Trafficking in Children and Women

    1 September 2003 - 31 October 2008

    Working to Prevent Human Trafficking and Labour Exploitation

  8. Infrastructure for Rural Productivity Enhancement Sector (INFRES) Project, Philippines

    4 June 2001 - 31 December 2006

    To improve their living conditions, poor people require access to employment and basic goods and services. They can improve their situation through national and local investment in infrastructure that provides jobs.

  9. Local Development through Infrastructure Investments and Jobs - Advisory Support, Information Services and Training Programme (ASIST-AP)

    1 January 1998 - 31 December 2009

    The programme works to develop and mainstream local resource-based strategies for sustainable development and poverty reduction. It is currently operational in 15 countries in the region.
