Indonesian Green Entrepreneurship Program (IGEP)

To assist Indonesia’s economic plan, promote entrepreneurship and decent employment opportunities, the ILO has launched the Indonesian Green Entrepreneurship Program (IGEP), jointly with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, Central Bank of Indonesia and BAPPENAS.

Project objectives

Under the Korea/ILO Partnership Program, and initially composed of a 15-month pilot phase (October 2012–December 2013), IGEP aims at supporting and building the capacity of ILO constituents and relevant national partners in Indonesia to better discuss and develop policies generating green, decent employment and environmental sustainability. IGEP is a set of multi-level activities helping to reduce poverty via sustainable economic growth, job creation, local economic development of micro, small and medium enterprises in Indonesia through green entrepreneurship.

Project outcomes

IGEP SYGB toolkit and training programme are developed in Bahasa and English and implemented

  • Developed and tested one universal training module, five sector-based training modules, one module for trainers, 50 international business cases and two additional SYGB training kits – “Start-up” (completed), “Take-off” (drafted and to be completed by June 2014) and “Expand” (to be completed by December 2014).
  • Trained 180 green entrepreneurs and 40 green entrepreneurship trainers.

Service providers’ capacity built

  • ILO constituents and national partners have significantly enhanced their knowledge on both technical and policy related aspects of green entrepreneurship, through various events such as a green entrepreneurship seminar, a technical green entrepreneurship workshop, and a green entrepreneurship lecture.

An encouraging environment for tripartite dialogue on green entrepreneurship created

  • The first session of the Indonesian Green Entrepreneurship Forum (May 2013) has set the bases of a platform for dialogue, experience sharing, collaboration, building synergies and mainstreaming IGEP lessons and strategies into national policies and programmes. Policy and technical recommendations were agreed for the future of green entrepreneurship in Indonesia.
