Analysis of youth employment policy and dissemination through global database and publications (component for Asia and the Pacific)

The ILO Youth Employment Programme launched this project to review youth employment policies in 10 countries in Asia and the Pacific and conduct in-depth analyses in three selected countries.

Project objectives

  • Improve knowledge sharing on policies addressing youth employment challenges in the region.
  • Strengthen the capacity of policymakers and social partners to conduct policy analysis, formulate recommendations and identify cost-effective policy options.
  • Ultimately, enhance the creation of decent jobs for young women and men in Asia and the Pacific.

Project outcomes

  • Share knowledge of youth employment policies among participating countries.
  • Foster policy coherence leading to improved youth employment by placing job creation for youth at the centre of economic policies.
  • Identify and prioritize the most effective youth employment measures by taking into account available fiscal space.
  • Allow constituents and other policymakers to review policy and legislation from other countries.
  • Encourage policymakers to implement policy reforms that support youth employment.
  • Facilitate the access of young women and men to decent jobs.
  • Enhance the employability of workers, the competitiveness of enterprises and the inclusiveness of growth.
