April 2012

  1. Roll-Out Training for Beginner Ecotour Guides

    25 - 27 April 2012, East Java, Indonesia

    The main purpose of the roll-out training for ecotour guides therefore is to give experienced tour-guides and potential eco-tour guides the necessary skills to conduct their specific activity following the ecotour guide national competency standards as stipulated by the Indonesian Government.

  2. Forum to Address Labour Exploitation and Trafficking.

    25 April 2012, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

    The forum aims to coordinate project and program activities related to migrant labour, and to share information related to ILO TRIANGLE project-led activities, including the drafting of the Prakas to supplement Sub Decree 190, development of Pre-departure training materials among UNICEF, UNODC, IOM, UN-Women and many other international and national NGOs.

  3. Green Jobs Foundation Training

    18 - 19 April 2012, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    Main purpose of the foundation training is to serve as a basic awareness raising and knowledge enhancing activity for the ILO constituents.

  4. Fellowship Training Programme on the Management of the Training Institution for Managers and Administrators of Technical/Vocational Training Institutions at HRD Korea

    15 - 28 April 2012, Bangkok, Thailand

    This fellowship is one of the activities that will help with the realization of one of the ILO’s strategic objectives listed under the regional priorities and outcomes of 2010-11, which is the ‘creation of greater opportunities for women and men to secure decent employment and income’. Governments and social partners’ skills experts from the ILO member States in this region commonly acknowledges the role of skills development to meet challenges and agreed that Regional Skills Network remains to be a common platform for improving the capacity of member States on skills issues by improving cooperation between partners and improve the knowledge base.

  5. Improving recruitment practices of employment agencies recruiting migrant workers

    9 April 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    The objective of the workshop is to share the findings of the review of the migrant worker recruitment industry in Sri Lanka title “Recruitment Practices of Employment Agencies Recruiting Migrant Workers - A Review aimed at improving recruitment regulations and drafting Recruitment Guidelines” and to obtain stakeholder views and comments on the findings, conclusions and recommendation in the report.

  6. Public validation workshop on the National Human Resources and Employment Policy

    5 April 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    The Public Validation Workshop on the Sri Lanka's National Human Resources and Employment Policy will be held on 5th April 2012 at the Taj Samudra Hotel. The final draft of the NHREP will be validated with the participation of representatives of government, employers, trade unions and academic institutions. The comments emanating from the workshop will be used to finalize the document and launch it in May 2012. The Senior Ministers Secretariat of the Government is leading the process of formulating the policy with technical assistance from the ILO."

    On 29th March 2012, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), in collaboration with ILO Office in Vietnam and social partners, organized the Tripartite Forum on Youth Employment

  2. Youth employment forum: Any time, any where: decent work for young Filipinos

    29 March 2012, Manila, Philippines

    More than a hundred youth leaders and representatives met with government agency officials, workers and employers group, academe, and civil society organizations. The event was part of ILO’s declaration of March as youth employment month and of a series of nationwide action planning workshops to address concerns on youth employment and migration in the Philippines.

  3. National policy dialogue on improving social protection and promoting employment

    28 - 29 March 2012, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

    Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MOLVT) in cooperation with the ILO/EU project organized the National Policy Dialogue which was held to (i) bring all the project studies to discuss and draft a national action plan and address the way forward of integrating social protection and employment strategies to Cambodia National Development Plan; (ii) collect information and lessons learnt to prepare for the global conference in Brussels on "Improving Social Protection and Promoting Employment and (iii) media campaign on extending social protection and promoting employment in the country.

  5. Youth Employment Month Events in Thailand

    As Thailand's contribution to the global Youth Employment Month, there will be a panel discussion on Youth Employment in Asia and the Pacific and a student debate on The ASEAN Economic Community will damage youth employment in Thailand.   6. Workshop on the Establishment of a Recruitment Agency Association, 27 March 2012, Vientiane, Lao PDR.

    The formation of a recruitment agency association is a key component in improving the labour migration management systems in Lao PDR. In accordance with the tripartite structure of TRIANGLE assistance, employers’ organizations and industry associations are key partners, alongside unions and governments. Currently, there is no recruitment agency association that unites agencies in Laos and provides a forum for cooperation, information sharing, industry regulation or advocacy. At the workshop, guidance will be provided by the MOLSW and the State Recruitment Management Authority, the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and comparative experience from the region.

  7. The Launch of Labour and Social Trends in Indonesia 2011: Promoting Job-rich Growth in Provinces

    22 March 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The report analyses labour market trends at the provincial level. Given the considerable diversity in socio-economic conditions among provinces and decentralized policymaking, realizing inclusive and job-rich growth requires suitable policy interventions at the local levels.

  8. Southeast Asia Launch of the Global Employment Trends 2012 Report

    21 March 2012, Singapore

    The International Labour Organization and the Institute of Southeast Asia Studies at the National University of Singapore organized the event "SOUTHEAST ASIA LAUNCH OF THE GLOBAL EMPLOYMENT TRENDS 2012 REPORT" on 21 March. Participants, including a diverse group from the academic, media, diplomatic and business communities, discussed economic and labour market trends taking place globally and in the Asia region and relevant policy measures.

  9. Tripartite Validation Workshop of the Philippine Decent Work Country Profile

    20 - 21 March 2012, College of Saint Benilde Hotel, Manila

    The Decent Work Country Profile for Philippines is aimed at providing information on all the elements of decent work in the country, and analyzing statistical and legal indicators within the framework of national labour and social policies, tentatively over the past ten years.

  10. ASEAN Seminar on Unemployment Insurance and Active Labour Market Policies

    20 - 22 March 2012, Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Viet Nam, with the support of the ASEAN Secretariat, have organized a tripartite ASEAN Seminar on Unemployment Insurance, Income Security Measures and Active Labour Market Policies which took place during 20-22 March 2012 in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.

  11. Working with men to address gender-based violence in the workplace

    19 - 20 March 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    This training programme is an attempt to address the issue by taking men on a self-reflective journey of understanding their actions, behavior patterns and motivations through a gender lens and thereby moving towards becoming active in not only preventing gender-based violence in the work place but also thinking and acting in more gender equal ways in the domestic sphere.

  12. Entrepreneurship development for youth

    19 - 21 March 2012, Manila

    The local government units (LGUs) play a pivotal role in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goal Fund (MDG F) Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Jobs for Filipino Youth in the four pilot provinces, namely Masbate, Antique, Agusan del Sur and Maguindanao.
