  1. TACKLE – Tackling Child Labour through Education Project – SYOB Training

    27 September - 1 October 2010, Labasa, Fiji

    Secondary school teachers in the Northern Division have joined forces to make the International Labour Organization’s Start Your Own Business (SYOB) Kit a success as part of their efforts to tackle child labour.

  2. ILO/Korea Fellowship Training on participatory approaches to improve working and employment conditions in the informal economy at Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA)

  3. Presentation of Viet Nam's mural on tripartism and decent work

    24 September 2010, Hanoi, Viet Nam

    To mark the 1,000 year anniversary of Hanoi, Viet Nam’s tripartite partners: the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and the ILO present a symbolic mosaic mural on “Tripartism and Decent Work for All” to the city of Hanoi. The mural serves as an inspiration for Viet Nam to continue with the tripartite unity in social and economic development.

  4. Asia Pacific Regional Workshop Entrepreneurship Education: “Improve quality and impact of youth entrepreneurship training”

    21 - 23 September 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

    In collaboration with the Jejaring Lapangan Kerja Bagi Kaum Muda (JEJAKMU) hosted under the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), ILO organized a three-day Regional Seminar on Entrepreneurship Education

  5. ILO-University of the Philippines School of Labor and Industrial Relations (UPSOLAIR) knowledge corner partnership

    18 September 2010, Manila, Philippines

    The ILO has begun to work with institutions to establish satellites of knowledge corners. UPSOLAIR's library is the first satellite for material-related to Decent Work.

  6. Seminar for Parliamentarians on Population and Development

    15 - 17 September 2010, Port Vila, Vanuatu

    The ILO Country Office for South Pacific Islands Countries officials facilitated specific sessions at the Seminar for Parliamentarians on Population and Development in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

  7. Launch of the microfinance project

    15 September 2010, Hanoi, Viet Nam

    The project aims to improve access of low income families to microfinance services, including savings facilities and microinsurance. The project focuses on microfinance sector development through initiating new savings and microinsurance products as well as strengthening institutional capacity on microfinance in Viet Nam.

  8. ILO/SKILLS-AP/Korea Regional training workshop on skills assessment of returning migrant workers

    15 - 16 September 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

    This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to share experience on how the sending countries organize and manage the skills recognition of their returning workers.

  9. The Singapore WSH Conference 2010: Embracing Challenges, Pushing WSH Frontiers

    15 - 16 September 2010, Singapore

    The Singapore WSH Conference 2010 will be held from 15-16 September 2010. The theme for the Conference is "Embracing Challenges, Pushing WSH Frontiers".

  10. Disability Champions Programme

    3 September - 31 October 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

    A Disability Champions programme launched on 3 September 2010 at the Labour Museum in Bangkok. It aims to develop effective responses among trade unions in Thailand to advocate decent work for people with disabilities.

  11. Workshop of Employment Service Providers

    3 September 2010, Ratnapura, Sri Lanka

    To discuss the integration of ILO tools into school to work transition curricula (ILO-Tertiary Vocational Education Commission)

  12. Launch of Disability Champions Programme

    3 September 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

    Disability Champions Programme will be launched on the 3rd of September 2010 at the Labour Museum, Bangkok.

  1. 5th China International Forum on Work Safety

    31 August - 2 September 2010, Beijing, China

    The 5th China International Occupational Safety & Health Exhibition and China International Forum on Work Safety, jointly sponsored by the State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS), a cabinet-level department of the Chinese government overseeing workplace safety, and the International Labor Organization (ILO), took place in September 2010.

  2. Thai Youth Forum on Migration and Human Trafficking

    30 August - 3 September 2010, Khao Yai, Thailand

    A Forum for Thai youth to discuss and make recommendations on how to prevent youth and migrant children from being exploited or trafficked.

  3. Establishment of the Tripartite Labour Advisory Council (MOU) in Vanuatu

    28 August - 4 September 2010, Port Vila, Vanuatu

    A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Establishment of the Tripartite Labour Advisory Council was drafted. It was signed by all tripartite constituents at a workshop and signed copies distributed to the parties.

  4. Workshop on Mainstreaming Decent Work into Viet Nam's Ten-year Socio-economic Development Strategy 2011-2020

    27 August 2010, Hanoi, Viet Nam

    The workshop is organized by the Development Strategy Institute (DSI)of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, with inputs from policy-makers, experts, technical specialists and international donor organizations.

  5. Forum on Green Jobs for a Better Life

    25 - 26 August 2010, Shanghai, China

    The Forum is to introduce the concepts and development trend of the Green Jobs Initiatives, to exchange good practices and to discuss the roles of the Government, employers' and workers’ organizations in promoting the green jobs for the green economy.

  6. Regional Director's official visit to Lao PDR

    17 - 18 August 2010, Vientiane, Lao PDR

    Ms Sachiko Yamamoto, ILO Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific paid an official visit to Vientiane, Lao PDR where she met H.E. Mr Thonglun Srisulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ms Onchanch Thammavong, Minister of Labour, senior government officials and ILO's tripartite constituents to promote the Decent Work Agenda. She also met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and United Nations Country Team members.

  7. International Youth Day celebrations (IYD)

    12 August 2010, Ratnapura, Sri Lanka

    International Youth Day was celebrated on 12th August in the Province of Sabaragamuwa. 200 young women and men from the plantations convened for a career guidance programme to mark the occasion. Many of them unemployed, registered themselves in the Labour Market Unit of both the Ratnapura District Secretary’s office and the Provincial Office. One of the drama groups trained to continue the Forum theatre component of the ILO-Japan Youth Employment project presented a short, but crisp performance focusing on challenges faced by youth living on plantations foremost amongst them being adult alcoholism that affected their education and prospects of employment. The programme was organized by Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT) in collaboration with the ILO/Japan YE project.

  8. National Workshop on Dispute Settlement and Collective Bargaining

    9 - 10 August 2010, Vientiane, Lao PDR

    The national workshop on industrial relations in Lao PDR is one of the activities under the ASEAN-ILO/Japan Industrial Relations Project. The workshop aims at capacity building of the tripartite constituents in Lao PDR in dispute settlement and collective bargaining as a follow-up event of the Regional Seminar on Industrial Relations in the ASEAN countries. The workshop will also share the analysis and trends of labour disputes with international inputs by ILO specialist.
