1. Interactive Talkshow on the Role of Labour Inspectors in Ensuring the Implementation of the Safety and Health in the Forestry Industry

   21 December 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   As the country with the largest forestry industries in the Asia Pacific Region, Indonesia plays an important role within the geopolitical, economic and climate change context. Forest and forest products industry have delivered significant contributions to gross domestic product, foreign exchange, government revenue, and employment in the period 1980-2002.

   The National Conference on Green Jobs: The Way Forward

   16 - 17 December 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   The government of Indonesia like many other countries in Asia and the Pacific have voluntarily committed to reducing green house gas (GHG) emissions by 2020. Indonesia has committed itself to reduce GHG emission by 26 per cent and by up to 41 per cent with International support. In order to achieve this, the government realizes that climate change planning cannot be separated from national economic development planning.

3. South East Asia Sub-Regional Workshop for Workers’ Organizations on "Social Dialogue and Child Labour"

   14 - 16 December 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

   To train child labour focal points for trade unions, develop a global trade union network of child labour focal points, develop trade union national action plans for the elimination of child labour, facilitate a greater understanding of the key issues regarding child labour, and to reflect on the role of workers’ organizations in combating child labour.

4. SCORE Module Two on Quality Management Workshop

   14 December 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   The main aim of the workshop is that the ILO and the SCORE constituents (the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, employers' organization (Apindo) and workers' organizations ) are agreed that the SCORE Module Quality is adapted and ready to be delivered to the Indonesian SMEs.

5. The Asia-Pacific Community of Practice on Green Jobs: Challenges and Opportunities for Knowledge Networking

   14 - 15 December 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   The Community of Practice on Green Jobs is aimed to form the foundation for the creation of a Community of Practice on Green Jobs with an Asia-Pacific focus, and create a better understanding of what constituents and other partners need to facilitate knowledge sharing, networking, cooperation and experience sharing via a web-based, interactive platform.

6. 4 in 1 Training of Trainers

   13 - 17 December 2010, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

   The 4 in 1 training handbook is designed to enable non formal training providers to effectively implement competency-based trainings based on labour market requirements that, in turn, will lead to certification and employment.

7. ILO Staff Training on Green Jobs: Linking Environment, Climate Change and the World of Work

   8 - 10 December 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

   The course is the standard ITC training course on Green Jobs which is useful to any ILO staff who needs to acquire an enhanced understanding of the concept of green jobs, main policies and measures and relationship with Decent Work.

8. Social Marketing with Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra

   8 December 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   Being more vulnerable to external shocks, most small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia have been finding it difficult to sustain operations due to the global financial crisis and as a result the quality of their jobs is being compromised in the process. Therefore, the ILO SCORE project in Indonesia in cooperation with Yayasan Dharma Bhakti Astra will conduct the SCORE Social Marketing event as a socialization’s event of SCORE program to the automotive SMEs.

9. Child labour session in the global forum on artisanal and small-scale mining

   7 - 9 December 2010, Manila, Philippines

   The ILO will dig into the facts of child labour in small scale mining as part of the session of United Nations Environment Programme's global forum. The forum aims to identify challenges and opportunities in small-scale mining. It will also discuss the use of mercury in small-scale mining. UNEP is preparing a legally binding global instrument on mercury and plans to pass it prior to the 27th session of its Governing Council in 2013.

10. National Achievement Workshop on “Improvement of working condition in agriculture with WIND programme”

    7 - 8 December 2010, Cantho City, Viet Nam

    The seminar is organized by ILO Country Office for Viet Nam in cooperation with Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the Central Farmer Union (FU). The objectives is 1) to exchange practical experiences for maintaining and developing network of farmer volunteers and 2) to find out suitable solutions to integrate WIND programme into the routine activities of Farmer Union. There are 50 participants including farmer volunteers from target provinces and responsible officials at national and provincial levels.

11. Training Workshop on Managing and Developing Small Business Association for Entrepreneurs

    1 - 2 December 2010, Hochiminh City, Viet Nam

    The workshop is organized by ILO Country Office for Viet Nam in cooperation with Viet Nam Women Entrepreneur Council/ Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The objectives is 1) to increase knowledge and capacity in managing their Business Associations/ Women Entrepreneur Clubs and 2) to prepare action plans to improve the activities/services of Business Associations/Women Entrepreneur Clubs to benefit their members. Participants will be 30 staffs of Viet Nam Women Entrepreneur Council, Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Viet Nam Cooperative, Women's Union, small business associations and business clubs in Ho CHi Minh City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai province.

1. 

   Lessons and Tools for Decent Work Seminar: The Case of Indonesia

   30 November 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   In 2009 Indonesia formulated a Fiscal Stimulus Package worth IDR 73.3 trillion (1.4 per cent of GDP) to respond to the Global Financial Crisis. The package coupled tax cuts and tax subsidies with a substantial increase in infrastructure investment. As a result, Indonesia has faired relatively well in the context of the current crisis – especially in regard to employment creation.

2. Third Regional Seminar on Industrial Relations in the ASEAN Region: Legal Framework and Practice for Labour Dispute and Settlement

   25 - 26 November 2010, Manila, Philippines

   The tripartite seminar is an opportunity for tripartite constituents in the ASEAN countries to exchange and share good industrial relations practices in the context of financial and economic crisis. This third regional seminar focuses on legal framework and practice for labour dispute and settlement.

3. National Tripartite Seminar on "Emerging Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Issues in Multinational and Large-scale Enterprises in Viet Nam"

   25 - 26 November 2010, Hochiminh City, Viet Nam

   This seminar is organized by ILO Country Office for Viet Nam in cooperation with Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). The purpose is to provide practical measures for dealing with new challenges in the field of OSH by 1) presenting the ILO tools; 2) introducing practical examples from large-scale enterprises in Japan; and 3) learning good OSH achievements in Viet Nam. Participants are representative of government agencies and employers' and employees' organizations.

4. UNiTE Campaign for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 2010

   25 November - 10 December 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   The UN Secretary General’s Campaign; “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women” brings together a host of UN agencies and offices to galvanize action across the UN system to prevent and punish violence against women. Through UNiTE, the UN is joining forces with individuals, civil society and governments to put an end to violence against women in all its forms.

5. Training Needs Assessment for the Industrial Relations Court

   24 - 25 November 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   In collaboration with the ILO, the Supreme Court’s Judicial Training Institute is currently revising its training programme for judges of the industrial relations court. To support the development of this, the ILO is currently performing a training needs assessment. To date, this assessment has involved a desk study of relevant data and materials and interviews with judges and stakeholders of the court.

6. Preventing and Managing Sexual Harassment and Equality at Work

   23 November 2010, Jakarta, Indonesia

   A continued process of awareness raising on Conventions Nos. 111 and 100 equality standards is required to contribute to the elimination of discrimination in employment and achievement of decent work for all. Within the context of a national campaign on gender equality, the Government of Indonesia and social partners are now demonstrating significant commitment to achieve these aims.

7. Technical Workshop "Comments on the draft Decree to guide the implementation of related articles on domestic worker in the Labor Code"

   19 November 2010, Hanoi, Viet Nam

   The seminar is organized by ILO Country Office for Viet Nam in cooperation with Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA). The objectives is 1) to agree on the form, title, structure and content of the 1st draft Decree; and 2) to finalize the cover letter and the draft Decree to be submitted to the Government

8. Public Lecture & Panel Discussion on LMIA in the Asia Pacific Region

   19 November 2010, Suva, Fiji

   The ILO in conjunction with the University of the South Pacific (USP) organized a public lecture & panel discussion on labour market information and analysis in the Pacific through regional partnership and capacity building. The speakers were from USP, ILO, social partners and the relevant government ministries.

9. Consultation Workshop on Domestic Workers and Policy Implication

   15 November 2010, Hanoi, Viet Nam

   The workshop is organized by ILO Country Office for Viet Nam in cooperation with Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA). The objectives are 1) to agree on concept, classification of types of domestic workers in Viet Nam, identify scope and target groups of the new Decree; 2) to clarify characteristics of domestic workers and related issues to regulation under the Labor Code to this target group; and 3) to clarify content of decent work for domestic workers mentioned in the draft Convention attached Recommendations of ILO and clarify policy requirement for domestic workers in Viet Nam.
