  1. Saphan Siang Photo Exhibition

    24 - 29 July 2012, Bangkok Arts and Culture Centre, Bangkok,Thailand

    Saphan Siang (Bridge of Voices) aims to start a movement among Thai youth to highlight the positive contribution of foreign migrant workers to the Thai economy and society. This photo competition and exhibition displays how migrants workers have contributed to Thai lives and society.

  1. Labour Inspection Management Workshop

    28 June 2012, Amari Orchid Pattaya, Thailand

    A 3-day consultation meeting co-organized by the ILO/IPEC project "Addressing child labour in the shrimp and seafood processing areas in Thailand" and the Department of Labour Protection of the Ministry of Labour on issues concerning labour administration and inspection needs.

  2. World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) Philippines Celebration 2012

    26 June 2012, Pasig City, Philippines

    The Philippines will celebrate the World Day Against Child Labour on 26 June this year by presenting to the public the preliminary results of the 2011 Survey on Children done by the National Statistics Office (NSO). This comes 10 years after the last survey done in 2001 which revealed that there were 4.2 million working children, 2.4 million of which were into child labour because of their exposure to hazardous conditions. After the NSO presents the 2011 Survey, a national campaign dubbed “Batang Malaya: A Child Labour-Free Philippines” will be launched by the National Child Labor Committee. The President of the Philippines has been invited to the event as well as key partners in the fight to eliminate child labour in the country and around 100 child labourers. More than 300 participants are expected to attend the activity which will be held at Fun Ranch, a play area for children.

  3. Green Jobs in Asia Regional Conference

    20 - 22 June 2012, Singgasana Hotel Surabaya, Surabaya, Indonesia

    On 20-22 June 2012, a tripartite regional workshop will discuss the Green Jobs in Asia project to highlight successful approaches, areas of improvement and the way forward. Representatives from GJA will include Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines and Sri Lanka. They will be joined by additional countries with Green Jobs experience: China, Fiji, India and Thailand.

  4. Workers' voices in the Thai shrimp and seafood processing sector consultation meeting

    17 June 2012, The Color Living Hotel, Samut Prakarn, Thailand

    A one day meeting with representatives of the trade unions from the fishing, shrimp and seafood processing to discuss working conditions and workers' welfare in the sector. Organized by the ILO-IPEC initiative "Addressing Child Labour in the Shrimp and Seafood Processing Areas in Thailand".

  5. Technical Working Group Meeting to Develop 3 Prakas

  6. Forum to Address Labour Exploitation and Trafficking

    8 June 2012, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

    The Forum brings together NGOs, international organizations and donors working on labour migration issues for information sharing, presentations and discussion on emerging trends and upcoming research or projects. The Forum includes representatives from UNICEF, UNODC, IOM, UN Women and others.

  7. IPEC-Thailand: Dialoguing with NGOs Partners

    7 - 8 June 2012, Prince Palace Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand

    The project ILO-IPEC "Addressing child labour issues in the shrimp and seafood sector in Thailand" will dialogue with selected NGOs partners operating in the provinces of Samut Sakhon, Surat Thani, Songhklha and Nakhon Si Thammarat on issues related to child labour, education and livelihood services.

  8. TOT on Improving Knowledge on Legal and Safe Labour Migration for Provincial Resource Persons

    4 - 9 June 2012, Hue, Viet Nam

    The aim of the training is to equip provincial resource persons with knowledge about safe and legal migration so they can conduct training for other staff at the provincial, district, commune and village levels. They also will be able to conduct other activities at migrant workers' resource centers in their provinces.

  1. Training Programme on Prevention of Trafficking in Persons for Recruitment Agents

    28 May 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    This Programme will be conducted for 75 Recruitment Agents in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE). The rationale for the Programme is that Recruitment Agents are in a position to raise awareness on the legal channels of migrating for foreign employment and thereby minimize the vulnerability to trafficking. The Sessions will include topics such as ‘Introduction to Trafficking in Persons – International & National Standards, Trafficking for Labour Exploitation, Complaints mechanism, Identification of Victims and offenders, Kafala system and the potential for abuse.

  2. Tripartite Consulation on the Draft Ministerial Regulation Concerning Work in Fishing

    25 May 2012, Bangkok, Thailand

    The consultation workshop is organised to facilitate sharing of information and technical comments to Thai labour Law reform provided by the ILO. It also provides a platform for the tripartite members and other key stakeholders to exchange information, share experiences, and raises concerns/questions regarding the improvement of decent working conditions in the fishing sector.

  3. Launch of Decent Work Country Profile for Indonesia

    23 May 2012, Jakarta, Indonesia

    Through the Decent Work Country Profile for Indonesia the constituents can take stock of the progress made in Indonesia since 1996, and the remaining challenges and the policies required to address them.

  4. Training Programme on Trafficking in Persons for Immigration Officers

    22 - 24 May 2012, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    This Programme will be conducted for 100 Immigration Officers based at the Bandaranaike International Airport. Sessions will include, Investigations to identify trafficking offenders & victims, channeling cases to the relevant law enforcement authorities, Foreign Employment and the legal recruitment process, International & National laws on Trafficking in Persons, Identification of forged documentation, Child Trafficking.

  5. "Visioning Event on Managing Skills and Employability for Decent Work through Building a Community of Practice and a Roadmap for the Regional Skills Programme"

    22 - 24 May 2012, Bangkok, Thailand

    In order to foster more ownership within the Regional Skills Network from its members, it is planned that the next Regional Skills Network meeting explicitly include the future of the Regional Skills Network and the role of member States and social partners in running it, besides the technical discussion on skills trends and anticipation. It is planned that during this meeting, the modalities and engagement and structure will be decided and how the CoP (ILO online “Community of Practice” which encourages online discussion forums on relevant skills topics by experts and implementing units) for Skills and Employability will play a role for knowledge sharing and utilisation as a part of the capacity building process.

  6. Regional and national workshop on Unemployment Insurance

    21 - 24 May 2012, Sabah , Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

    Regional and national workshop on Unemployment Insurance in Sabah , Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur, during 21,22 and 24 May respectively. Cohosted by ILO-SOCSO and MOHR.

  7. Malaysia Ministry of Human Resource – ILO Training Course on the Labour Dimensions of Trafficking in Persons.

    21 - 23 May 2012, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    The ILO TRIANGLE project will support the Division of Labour Policy, Department of Labour, MOHR to conduct a training course on the labour dimensions of trafficking in persons. The ILO has conducted similar training courses in the past for tripartite constituents in the region and at the global level. The training modules will be adapted to the Malaysian context and will be delivered by Malaysian Government officials and the ILO Regional Migration Specialist and the ILO Special Action Programme on Forced Labour (SAP-FL).

  8. Community-Based Pilot Training (C-BED)

    21 - 23 May 2012, Tayabas, Quezon

    Community-Based Enterprise Development (C-BED) is a newly developed ILO intervention tool which builds the capacity of current aspiring entrepreneurs without the use of external trainers or facilitators.

  9. ILO and human resource development fund signed the fund -in -trust Agreement on the technical cooperation on Green Jobs

    15 May 2012, Malaysia

    The project will start implementation in June 2012 till Setember 2013

  10. Hands-On Training on “How to cost, finance and monitor Social Protection Schemes?”

    15 - 17 May 2012, Bangkok, Thailand

    This course enables participants to gain technical expertise on the design and costing of social protection policies; discuss issues related to financing and Learn how to assess and measure the impact of social protection programmes on poverty reduction and other indicators.

  11. Workshop on Labour Disputes and Settlement in the Public Service

    15 - 16 May 2012, The Bayleaf Hotel, Intramuros, Manila

    The workshop is in support to the clamor of public sector unions towards ratification of Convention 151 and to enhance their capacities in addressing collective bargaining issues and labour dispute resolutions in the public service sector.
