  1. ILO-FAO and Municipal Working Group Planning Workshop

    10 - 11 February 2011, Sulu Riviera Hotel, Lucena City

    The activity is aimed at promoting participatory management, enhancing coordination and planning process at the local government level and heightening the sense of ownership and responsibilities of the partners to the project.

  2. Workshop on Financial Education for Migrant Workers and Their Families

    9 - 11 February 2011, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia

    Realizing to the poor understanding of migrant workers towards financial services and accesses, ILO is developing a financial education programme for migrant workers and their families, aimed to provide direct assistance on financial services and accesses as well as income planning and management.

  3. “Stop Violence against Women in Every Sphere of Life not only at Workplace”

    9 February 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    The second consultation workshop on “Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing Violence against Women at Workplace” took place at BIAM Foundation, Dhaka, on 9th February 2011, which was organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and supported by the ILO

  4. ILO/Korea Policy Dialogue and Study Program on the “Role of Government-Government Recruitment and Placement in Foreign Employment Programs of Asian Sending Countries”

    8 - 9 February 2011, Bangkok, Thailand

    This programme dialogue and training workshop aims to (a) examine and share knowledge on the rationale for the government-government agreements; (b) consider the impact of these services drawn from within and outside the region; (c) identify the good practices and lessons learned in the implementation of these policies; and (d) determine training needs and plan forthcoming programs for MOU participating countries.

  5. Workshop on law and tax benefit for hiring people with disabilities - Employers' Activities Thailand

    8 February 2011, Bangkok, Thailand

    A joint event organized by the Employers' Confederation of Thailand (ECOT), the department of Law of Thammasat University, and ILO. The workshop will provide employers with relevant information on recent laws and taxation benefits that apply to employers who decide to hire people with disabilities in Thailand. It will also be an opportunity to share information on global inclusive business initiatives and networks.

  6. Training for Specialists in Indonesia: Assessing the Effects of Trade on Employment

    7 - 11 February 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The training is aimed to strengthen the participants’ skills to empirically analyse the effects of trade on employment using Social Accounting Matrix and multiplier analysis. In so doing, the training lays down the base for researchers and analysts willing to embark on more complex SAM-based methodologies.

  7. Inclusive GET Ahead: promoting economic empowerment of women and men with disabilities in Lao PDR (Vientiane).

    7 - 11 February 2011, Vientiane, Lao PDR

    A joint initiative of two ILO projects: INCLUDE and WEDGE that promote and support the inclusion of women and men with disabilities in enterprise development initiatives. Two Inclusive GET Ahead training courses for women and men entrepreneurs or people who want to start a small-scale business will be delivered by the Lao Disabled Women’s Development Centre in Vientiane Province and Oudomxay Province.

  8. Improving Vocational and Life Skills of Ex-Child Labourers and at Risk Children Aged 15 to 17 Years

    1 February - 11 March 2011, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia

    In an attempt to improve the vocational and life skills of the children, and in collaboration with the International Garment Training Centre (IGTC), ILO-IPEC provides vocational and life skill training for 30 ex child laborers and at risk children. The vocational training to be provided is sewing operator training for which there is a market in the garment industry in Indonesia. Textile and garments are among the major contributors to the Indonesia’s exporting industries.

  1. ILO-De La Salle University (DLSU) knowledge corner partnership

    31 January 2011, Manila, Philippines

    On 31 January 2011, Mr Lawrence Jeff Johnson, CO-Manila Director, Br. Ricardo Laguda FSC, DLSU Chancellor, and Ms Ana Maria Fresnido, University Library Director formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on the ILO-DSLU knowledge corner partnership.

  2. Workshop on Developing Tourism Programme Priorities

    31 January 2011, Leitimur Selatan, Maluku, Indonesia

    The workshop is aimed to map out participatory potential areas for tourism in Leitimur Selatan Sub-district and to develop programmme priorities in tourism sector to be potentially implemented by community in the area.

  3. Consultation workshop on “Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing Violence against Women at Workplace”

    30 January 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    As a part of the Project initiatives of “Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing Violence against Women at Workplace” a consultation workshop was held at Bangladesh Secretariat on 30 January 2011, organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and supported by the ILO. Objectives of the consultation workshop were to create awareness on gender equality and VAW (sexual harassment) issues at workplace among the key actors and to identify effective means of promoting gender equality and preventing sexual harassment at workplace.

  4. Stakeholder Workshop and Focus Group Discussion on Status of Seaweed

    27 January 2011, Maluku, Indonesia

    The ILO/UNIDO Pelagandong Project and the ILO-EAST Project are jointly organizing a workshop on seewed development as one of the main commodities to discuss with the stakeholders of seaweed in Maluku about the current status and way forward to achieve the target of poverty reduction by the year 2014.

  5. Development of Framework for Curriculum for Industrial Relations Court Judges

    27 January 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The ILO is partnering with the Technical Unit of the Supreme Court Training Centre to revise the current training programme. A competency-based training curriculum for newly appointed career and ad hoc judges will be developed under this partnership.

  6. Review of Training Needs Assessment for Industrial Relations Court Judges

    25 January 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The ILO is partnering with the Technical Unit of the Supreme Court Training Centre to revise the current training programme. A competency-based training curriculum for newly appointed career and ad hoc judges will be developed under this partnership. An advanced training programme shall also be developed to provide ongoing education to serving judges in the industrial relations court.

  7. Asia-Pacific Knowledge Sharing Network on Youth Employment (APYouthNet): Rejuvenation Event

    25 - 28 January 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    APYouthNet will host a rejuvenation event to take stock of the progress made in the community since its launch two years ago.

  8. National Green Jobs Conference

    24 - 25 January 2011, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    The National Green Jobs Conference “Green Jobs: the Way Forward” was organized by ILO in collaboration with the Ministries of Labour and Labour Relations and Productivity Promotion, with financial support from the Australian Government, under the ILO-Australia Partnership Programme 2010 – 2015. The conference discussed ways of supporting environmentally, economically and socially sustainable enterprises and development, and the creation of more green jobs in Sri Lanka. More than 100 participants, representing government departments and institutions, employers' and workers' organizations, private sector, NGOs, research institutes and media attended this two day conference.

  9. Workshop on Employment Diagnostic Analysis in Kupang, NTT

    18 - 20 January 2011, Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia

    the workshop is amed to build capacity in employment diagnostic analysis among the ILO constituents and to reach a shared understanding of the nature of the main constraints and challenges to productive employment generation in Nusa Tenggara Timur as a basis for a more coherent policy making at the provincial level.

  10. Building Modern and Effective Labour Administration and Inspection System in Indonesia

    17 - 19 January 2011, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia

    The seminar is jointly conducted by the ILO in collaboration with the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration to assist the Indonesian Government in building modern and effective labour administration and inspection system.

  11. Impact Assessment Workshop on Workplace Cooperation (Module 1 of SCORE Programme)

    11 January 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The workshop is conducted to mark the culmination of a series of enterprise trainings on Workplace Cooperation conducted in five pilot small medium enterprises (SMEs). The workshop is aimed to asses the progress of the implementation of the workplace cooperation in the pilot enterprises and to provide the opportunity to participating enterprises to share good practices, lessons learned and constraints for future effective development of workplace cooperation.

  12. Workshop on Competency Based Training and Face-to-Face training of Instructors from BLKI Sorong

    10 - 20 January 2011, Papua, Indonesia

    Taking consideration to the globalization, the work and the skills on demand are changing rapidly due to new technology and innovations. This has the effect to reduce the number of low or unskilled workplaces globally and in another way to extend the skills of the work force in very short timeframe. It requires a regularly skills upgrading and cooperation with the industries and employers and to define what is expected from the employees in the workplace.
