  1. MTUC/ILO National Workshop on Labour Law Amendments in Malaysia

    16 - 18 March 2011, Pahang, Malaysia

    The workshop is to review the three Acts, such as the Employment Act, the Industrial Relations Act and the Trade Union Act, with the participating union leaders representing different sectors whether regulations undermine labour rights and trade union rights. It intends to summarise the MTUC stand on those regulations, undermining labour rights and trade union rights and develop a MTUC position which would be served as a policy paper for forthcoming tripartite discussions on the labour law amendment.

  2. Stakeholder Workshop on Improving the Prevention and Health Treatment Access for Indonesian Prospective/Migrant Workers

    16 - 17 March 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    HIV and AIDS case findings in Indonesian migrant workers are increasing. The Ministry of Health reported in December 2010 that the AIDS cases have reached 24.131 cases. Meanwhile, a report from Caring for Migrant Workers, an NGO dealing with the health issues of deported migrant workers from Malaysia, revealed that during 2010 they had taken care of more than 50 AIDS cases of deported Indonesian migrant workers. The report shows evidence that HIV and AIDS for Indonesian migrant workers should be seriously handled.

  3. Improving Vocational and Life Skills of Ex-Child Labourers and at Risk Children Aged 15 to 17 Years - Second Batch

    14 March - 29 April 2011, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia

    In an attempt to improve the vocational and life skills of the children, and in collaboration with the International Garment Training Centre (IGTC), ILO-IPEC provides vocational and life skill training for 30 ex child laborers and at risk children. The vocational training to be provided is sewing operator training for which there is a market in the garment industry in Indonesia. Textile and garments are among the major contributors to the Indonesia’s exporting industries.

  4. ToT on SIYB for Officers of Employment Development and Expansion Center, Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration

    14 - 24 March 2011, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia

    Recently, the Government of Indonesia has committed to revitalize the entrepreneurship as a strategy in employment creation. It clearly manifested among the priorities in the Medium Term Development Planning (RPJMN 2010-2014) which emphasizes the importance of liven up entrepreneurship and competitiveness. The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (MOMT) as one of responsible ministries in developing human resources and employment creation demonstrates a strong interest in establishing entrepreneurship education and trainings.

  5. Roundtable Discussion and Project Advisory Committee Meeting on Green Jobs Initiative

    10 March 2011, Makati City, Philippines

    The roundtable discussion presented the ILO’s Green Jobs Initiative and discussed green jobs activities in the Philippines, including the role of government, employers’ and workers organizations. The roundtable discussion was followed by a Project Advisory Committee meeting, whose agenda were devoted entirely on the launching of the Green Jobs in Asia Project.

  6. GET Ahead trainers’ alumni meeting in Cambodia

    10 - 11 March 2011, Kampong Cham, Cambodia

    A two-day networking and knowledge-sharing meeting for experienced trainers who regularly use the GET Ahead training methodology for the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship development in Cambodia.

  7. Local Economic Development Summit in Masbate

    9 March 2011, Masbate, Philippines

    The summit aims to integrate local economic development in the plans and programmes of Masbate. The summit is part of the MDG-F Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth initiative, a programme designed to improve access to decent work for poor, young men and women, and to improve policy coherence and implementation in relation to young people, employment and migration, through greater participation.

  8. Local Economic Development Summit in Agusan del Sur

    4 March 2011, Agusan del Sur, Philippines

    The summit aims to integrate local economic development in the plans and programmes of Agusan del Sur. The summit is part of the MDG-F Joint Programme on Alternatives to Migration: Decent Work for Filipino Youth initiative, a programme designed to improve access to decent work for poor, young men and women, and to improve policy coherence and implementation in relation to young people, employment and migration, through greater participation.

  9. Promoting Gender Equality in Civil Service of Bangladesh

    3 March 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    As a part of the Project initiatives of “Promoting Gender Equality and Preventing Violence against Women at Workplace” The 3rd consultation workshop on “Promoting Gender Equality in Civil Service of Bangladesh” was held at CIRDAP auditorium on 3rd March 2011, organized by the Ministry of Labour and Employment and supported by the ILO.

  10. Inception workshop: Research on integrated approaches to decent work in Jakarta

    3 March 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    In view of the importance of urbanisation in Asia and the Pacific, cross-country research on integrated approaches to decent work in rapidly growing Asian cities is being conducted. Jakarta is among the cities of focus, and this workshop will bring together Indonesian constituents and other stakeholders to share knowledge and experiences and identify and agree on specific issues to be addressed by the research.

  11. A Series of Business Continuity Planning Programmes

    2 - 17 March 2011, Cilegon and Tangerang (Banten) and Solo (Central Java), Indonesia

    Business Continuity Planning Program (Business/Operational Continuity Planning) is an ILO program implemented through the activities of advocacy, promotion and education related to business continuity planning efforts at the level of decision-making of a company or organization.

  1. ToT on SIYB for Officers of Productivity Improvement Center, Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration

    21 February - 3 March 2011, Bekasi, Jakarta, Indonesia

    Recently, the Government of Indonesia has committed to revitalize the entrepreneurship as a strategy in employment creation.   2. Inclusive GET Ahead: promoting economic empowerment of women and men with disabilities in Lao PDR (Oudomxay).

    21 - 25 February 2011, Oudomxay, Lao PDR

    A joint initiative of two ILO projects: INCLUDE and WEDGE that promote and support the inclusion of women and men with disabilities in enterprise development initiatives. Two Inclusive GET Ahead training courses for women and men entrepreneurs or people who want to start a small-scale business will be delivered by the Lao Disabled Women’s Development Centre in Vientiane Province and Oudomxay Province.

  3. Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System Users Training

    21 February - 18 March 2011, Philippines

    Nationwide training on the Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System, a new web portal for knowledge sharing and collaboration of all anti-child labour advocates.

  4. Child Labour Monitoring and Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring System Training and Presentation of Baseline Survey Results

    21 February - 18 March 2011, Bukidnon, Quezon, Northern Samar, and Masbate

    The training aims to develop the Child Labor Monitoring System and referral system and discuss the Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring System on child labour.

  5. Business Continuity Planning Programme

    16 - 17 February 2011, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia

    Business Continuity Planning Program (Business/Operational Continuity Planning) is an ILO program implemented through the activities of advocacy, promotion and education related to business continuity planning efforts at the level of decision-making of a company or organization.

  6. Public Employment Service Office Managers' Training on Access to Phil-JobNet

    15 February 2011, Catanauan, Quezon

    Training on the Phil-JobNet website to promote access to job opportunities. Phil-JobNet is an internet-based job and applicant matching system which aims to fast track jobseekers for job opportunities and employers search for manpower. It is the centralized-database facility of the Department of Labor and Employment.

  7. ILO/SKILLS-AP/Japan Regional Workshop and Study Programme on “Addressing Skills Mismatch through Public Private Partnerships”

    14 - 18 February 2011, Tokyo, Japan

    The workshop aims to assist tripartite delegations from selected countries in the region to discuss and find effective ways to develop partnerships between training institutions and industries in making the skills development system more responsive to labour market needs and to reduce skills mismatch.

  8. Traning on Assessing the Effects of Trade on Employment: an Introduction to Social Accounting Matrix and Multiplier Analysis

    13 - 17 February 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    The EC funded ILO project on trade effects on employment (ETE project), with the support of its constituents, is organizing a technical training focusing on trade effects on employment in Bangladesh. The objective of the training is to strengthen the capacity of the constituents to formulate coherent trade and labour market policies. The training will take place from 13-17 February 2011 at Brac Centre Inn, Mohakhali, Dhaka
