  1. Workshop on Enabling Environment for Sustainable Enterprises and Empowering Trade Unions to Engage in Policy Dialogues in Indonesia

    4 - 6 May 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    Promoting sustainable enterprises calls for the strengthening of the institutions and governance systems which nurture enterprises. Strong and efficient markets need strong and effective institutions. Promoting sustainable enterprises is also about ensuring that human, financial and natural resources are combined equitably and efficiently in order to achieve innovation and enhanced productivity.

  2. Tripartite Capacity-building and Consultation Workshop on Measuring Decent Work in Cambodia

    4 - 6 May 2011, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

    This tripartite capacity-building and consultation workshop will provide technical guidance on Decent Work Indicators and which can support the design and monitoring of the Cambodia Decent Work Country Programme 2011-2015.

  3. Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) Training of Master Trainers

    3 - 14 May 2011, Philippines

    To address the growing demand for the ILO’s support to entrepreneurship training and enterprise development services as well as its sustainability, a Training of Master Trainors for the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) programme will be held on 4-13 May 2011 in the Philippines.

  4. Asia-Pacific - A Regional Dialogue on the Maritime Labour Convention

    3 - 6 May 2011, Cairns, Australia

    The ILO,the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) is working to strengthen regional cooperation on the adoption, implementation, consistent application and enforcement of the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006) across the region by hosting Asia-Pacific - A Regional Dialogue on the Maritime Labour Convention from 3 to 6 May 2011, in Cairns, Australia.

  1. 2011 World Day for Safety and Health at Work in Japan

    28 April 2011, Tokyo

    World Day in 2011 focused on the implementation of an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) as a tool for continual improvement in the prevention of workplace incidents and accidents. Marking the day, ILO Office for Japan has created a Japanese portal page listing links to relevant information including past year events of the Day, ILO 2001 Guidelines on occupational safety and health management systems and OSHMS in Japan, thematic information on occupational safety and health as well as Japanese translation of the 2011 World Day report and other related materials.

  2. World Bank/AusAid/ILO Regional Labor Markets Analysis Workshop

    27 - 29 April 2011, Bangkok, Thailand

    The workshop is aimed to foster more informed and coordinated response to social policy crises through better diagnostic capacity of labour markets among ASEAN member states. The main focus of the workshop is to build capacity for member states to better monitor and analyse evolving labour market conditions, and their impact on poverty.

  3. Visioning Event for an ILO Asia Pacific Community of Practice on Industrial Relations (AP-IR Net)

    26 - 28 April 2011, Bangkok, Thailand

    Launched as part of the Asian Decent Work Decade Knowledge Networks series, the AP-IR Net community of Practice (CoP) sets the stage for ILO constituents, IR professionals, academia and others to interact and to share resources, experiences, expertise and ideas in order to find timely solutions to a range of legal, policy and practical challenges in labour and employment relations.

  4. The Launch of Labour and Social Trends in Indonesia 2010

    14 April 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The third issue of the Labour and Social Trends in Indonesia focuses on turning robust economic growth into creation of decent work and productive employment. Indonesia weathered the global fi nancial crisis much better than advanced economies and neighbouring countries, maintaining a positive economic growth. Economic forecasts of various sources unanimously suggest faster economic growth for Indonesia at above six per cent per year in the coming years. It is obvious that opportunities lie ahead of Indonesia.

  5. Workshop on Economic and Productive Employment Diagnostic in Maluku

    11 - 13 April 2011, Ambon, Maluku, Indonesia

    The workshop is amed to build capacity in employment diagnostic analysis among the ILO constituents and to reach a shared understanding of the nature of the main constraints and challenges to productive employment generation in Maluku as a basis for a more coherent policy making at the provincial level.

  6. Global SCORE Knowledge Sharing Conference

    4 - 8 April 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The ILO’s Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprise (SCORE) project has been active now for almost 1.5 years. Some of the country project such as China, Indonesia and South Africa have already advance quite far while the projects in Colombia, Ghana, India and Viet Nam have started more recently.

    The Bureau for Employers Activity (ILO ACTEMP) in collaboration with the ASEAN Confederation of Employers (ACE) is organising the "ILO-ACE Workshop on Strategic Direction for ACE" to be held in Jakarta on 31 March - 1 April 2011

  2. Provincial knowledge sharing workshop on successful strategies for women’s entrepreneurship development in Phu Tho Province

    31 March 2011, Viet Tri, Phu Tho Province, Viet Nam

    This workshop on successful strategies for women’s entrepreneurship development is organized by VCCI-VWEC, VWU and ILO-WEDGE with a view to take stock of achievements, progress and challenges, and to identify good practices, measures and mechanisms for wider application in the future.

  4. Promoting Inclusive Vocational Education and Training in the Asian Region – Opening Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities

    29 - 31 March 2011, Bangkok, Thailand

    The International Labour Organization is organizing a tripartite-plus regional conference on ‘Promoting inclusive vocational education and training in the Asian Region’ in Bangkok, Thailand, 29-31 March, 2011.The conference will take place in the framework of the project “Promoting Decent Work for People with Disabilities through Disability Inclusion Services -INCLUDE”, funded by the Government of Ireland. The conference will also contribute to the objectives and activities of the 3rd Asia Pacific Decade on the rights of persons with disabilities, to the implementation of ILO Convention No. 159 concerning Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment of Disabled Persons, and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

  5. Refresher training on gender equality and WED for SMEPDO in Lao PDR

    25 March 2011, Vientiane, Lao PDR

    The Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion and Development Office under the Lao Ministry of Industry and Commerce is holding a one-day refresher training on gender equality and women’s entrepreneurship development, with technical and financial assistance from the ILO’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Development and Gender Equality Project. The training is intended to reaffirm the commitment and strengthen the capacity of SMEPDO staff to recognize and address gender concerns in their internal and external operations, with special focus on addressing the gender needs of women entrepreneurs.

  6. Training on OSH Improvement for Community Owned Plantation in Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatera

    22 - 23 March 2011, Serdang Bedagai, North Sumatra, Indonesia

    The presence of children working under hazardous conditions in the commercial plantation sector led the ILO to design a programme targeting elimination of child labour in this sector. Findings of the ILO’s OSH assessment in plantation in year 2009 shows that the working conditions of the workplaces in this sector are poor. A number of direct and indirect risks and hazards have been identified, including falling from high place; insect bites; and chemical substances.

  7. Internal review regarding gender sensitivity in Cooperative Alliance of Quang Nam province

    21 - 25 March 2011, Quang Nam Province, Viet Nam

    The FAMOS check aims to promote internal learning, and identify good practices and gaps regarding gender mainstreaming and provision of services to women entrepreneurs within the cooperative alliance of Quang Nam province.

  8. National knowledge sharing workshop on successful strategies for women’s entrepreneurship development

    18 March 2011, Hanoi, Viet Nam

    This national workshop on successful strategies for women’s entrepreneurship development is organized by VCCI-VWEC and ILO-WEDGE with a view to take stock of achievements, progress and challenges, and to identify good practices, measures and mechanisms for wider application in the future.

  9. First ILO Green Jobs Awareness Raising Workshop

    17 March 2011, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

    The workshop was part of the ILO’s broader capacity building of ILO constituents and stakeholders on the new DWCP 2011-2015.
