  1. Philippine World Day against Child Labour 2011

    14 June 2011, Occupational Safety and Health Center, Diliman, Quezon City

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) is to mark this year’s World Day against Child Labour (June 12) with events in more than 50 countries, along with a new report on children in hazardous work. In the Philippines, the National Child Labor Committee’s Sub-Committee on Mainstreaming and Advocacy spearheads the World Day against Child Labour, which aims to increase public awareness on the issue of child labour and on the need to scale up programmes towards the goal of preventing and eliminating the worst forms of child labour. The Philippine World Day against Child Labour will also build strong action and commitment to promote decent and productive work, recognizing that hazardous work is part of the larger child labour problem.

  2. World Day Against Child Labour in Lao PDR

    12 June 2011, Vientiane, Lao PDR

    The meeting was opened by Mr. Bounkhong Lasoukan, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. He started his speech by informing the audience about the WDACL is an important event of the world aiming at raising awareness to combat child labour, especially the worst forms of child labour.

  3. The Commemoration of the World Day against Child Labour

    12 - 28 June 2011, Jakarta, Makassar, Kupang, Ambon and Jayapura, Indonesia

    The 2011 World Day against Child Labour in Indonesia provides a national spotlight on hazardous child labour, and call for urgent action to tackle the problem.

  4. World Day Against Child Labour 2011 in East and Southeast Asia

    12 June 2011, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam

    12 June is observed globally as World Day against Child Labour. The theme this year is children in hazardous work. Many events are held throughout the world, including in East and Southeast Asia

  5. World Day Against Child Labour - 2011

    11 - 11 June 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh

    On the eve of the 10th World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL) 12 June 2011, the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) took the lead to observe WDACL under the theme "Warning! Children in hazardous work - End child labour".

  6. World Day Against Child Labour in Mongolia

    9 - 12 June 2011, Mongolia

    The observation of the WDACL, in Mongolia various public activities to promote community engagement and to improve awareness on child labour.

  7. National Tripartite Workshop to Develop of the National OSH Programme and to Promote the Ratification the ILO Convention No. 187 (2006)

    9 June 2011, Suva, Fiji

    The purposes of the workshop were: 1) to promote tripartite cooperation and consultation; 2) to analyze current OSH status and identify priority OSH areas for action; 3) to discuss the steps in developing National OSH programme and taskforce setting; and 4) to promote the ratification and promotion of ILO Promotional Framework for OSH Convention (C187).

  8. Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Contingency Planning Workshop

    1 - 4 June 2011, Bicol, Philippines

    Poor families and communities in the Bondoc project sites are vulnerable due to their exposure to several risks such as climate-induce hazards, armed conflict and unstable sources of income and livelihoods. Local governments and communities also need help in coping with and mitigating the negative impacts of natural disasters.

  9. Study Program on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

    1 - 4 June 2011, Philippines

    The Inter-agency Programme to Nurture Peace, Security and Decent Work through Local Development in Conflict Areas of the Philippines (Bondoc LED) aims to strengthen resiliency of vulnerable groups and communities against the effects and potential impacts of natural hazards as a key project component. Poor families and communities in the Bondoc project sites are vulnerable due to their exposure to several risks such as climate-induce hazards, armed conflict and unstable sources of income and livelihoods. Local governments and communities also need help in coping with and mitigating the negative impacts of natural disasters.

  1. World Day Against Child Labour in Cambodia

    26 May 2011, Cambodia

    An unprecedented and resounding success, garnering wide media attention on Child Labour and attracting a host of new partners and stakeholders onto the issue of child labour.

  2. Partnership with Local Government to Create New Income Streams for Subsistence Copra Communities

    18 - 31 May 2011, Philippines

    Coconut farmers and women can now produce sugar, oil, soap and perfume products from coconut. This was after the Inter-agency Programme to Nurture Peace, Security and Decent Work through Local Development in Conflict Areas of the Philippines (Bondoc LED) and local government of San Narciso, Quezon conducted training in remote villages. A total of 70 coconut farmers and 56 women joined the training held on 18-31 May 2011 in Quezon. Participants learned sequential harvesting of coconut for copra and sap collection to increase productivity. Coconut-based products such as coconut sugar, virgin coconut oil, organic soap, and perfume were also produced.

  3. ILO-Ifugao State University (IFSU) knowledge corner partnership

    18 May 2011, Lamut, Ifugao, Philippines

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) opened knowledge corners in schools, universities, and public libraries in the Philippines. Through a partnership with the ILO and the Ifugao State University (IFSU), the first provincial knowledge corner was established on 18 May 2011 in the northern region of the Philippines.

  5. Training of facilitators on conducting a gender self-assessment in business support organizations

    18 - 20 May 2011, Hoa Binh, Viet Nam

    A three-day training workshop aimed at facilitators who learn how to assist business support organizations to carry out a self-assessment of their level of gender awareness and gender mainstreaming. The “FAMOS check” aims to promote internal learning in business support organizations, and to identify good practices and gaps regarding gender mainstreaming and provision of services to women micro- and small-scale entrepreneurs.

  6. Green Jobs-AP online discussion forum on policies, programs and measures to promote Green Jobs

    16 May - 5 June 2011, Online

    This forum seeks participants’ experiences, expertise and feedback on the issue. Participation is open to all who have an interest in green jobs related issues.

  7. Asia Regional Facilitators’ Training Course on Value Chain Development

    16 - 20 May 2011, Tagaytay City, Philippines

    The one week course will assist participants in understanding the concept of value chain development and to explore international good practices.

  8. APYouthNet online discussion forum on the effects of labour migration policies on young people

    16 - 27 May 2011, Online

    This forum seeks participants’ experiences, expertise and feedback on the issue. Participation is open to all who have an interest in youth employment related issues.

  9. The 5th Industrial Relations Team Meeting

    12 May 2011, Bangkok, Thailand

    The meeting will discuss the achieved outcomes of the current three-year phase and the project design of the next phase of the ASEAN-ILO/Japan Industrial Relations Project, especially themes of the annual seminars, added values for the phase including preparation for the first Regional Seminar to be held early next year.

  10. Training of Trainers on HIV/AIDS and Migrant Workers at National level

    10 - 13 May 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    HIV/AIDS case in Indonesia is growing fast. The Ministry of Health reported the cumulative AIDS case up to Dec 2010 is 24.131 cases. Even though there is no comprehensive reported data available on HIV and AIDS cases among migrant workers, HIV and AIDS cases are increasing. As reported by Caring for Migrant Workers, 50 cases of AIDS cases from deported migrant workers have been handled in 2010.

  11. Trade Union Workshop on Decent Work for Domestic Workers

    5 - 6 May 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The workshop is conducted as part of the efforts to build pressure and create broad support for the adoption of an Convention and Recommendation on “Decent Work for Domestic Workers” at the 2011 International Labour Conference.
