  1. Better Work Regional Buyer Forum

    5 September 2011, Hue City, Viet Nam

    The Forum address top concerns such as revisions to the Vietnam Labor Code and Trade Union Law; the current state of industrial disputes – including wildcat strikes – in the industry; information on impacts of the program to date, and a range of issues related to program services and delivery.

  2. Technical Vocational Training for Youth in Bondoc Peninsula

    5 - 17 September 2011, Quezon, Philippines

    The Inter-agency Programme to Nurture Peace, Security and Decent Work through Local Development in Conflict Areas of the Philippines (Bondoc LED) seeks to contribute in addressing short-term and long-term skills deficiency in the country-side by implementing technical-vocational skills training in collaboration with Quezon National Agricultural School (QNAS) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The training is aimed at providing skills to the youth to help them in finding employment opportunities or starting their own business. The training is in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Auhority, Quezon National Agricultural School.

  3. CSR Fundamentals: Spotlight on Labour in a Changing Japan and a Changing World

    2 September 2011, Tokyo, Japan

    The ILO-Tokyo and BSR, a global NGO focusing on corporate responsibility, will organize a public seminar to look forward to how labour issues and emerging trends in Japan, and overseas where Japanese companies have operation or suppliers, are shaping the labour landscape.

  4. Users Training on Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System (CLKSS) for the Provincial Child Labour Committees

    1 September 2011, Pagbilao, Quezon Province

    The establishment of a multi-level functional system on child labour is one of the strategy directions under the Philippine Program Against Child Labor (PPACL) Strategic Framework for 2007-2015. The IPEC Programme, through its strategy on knowledge management, will build the capacities of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Child Labor Committee (NCLC), and other relevant government agencies and social partners has helped develop a system that would facilitate the utilization of data especially in support of national and local child labour policy development and programme design, implementation, and evaluation. This system is what we call the Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System (CLKSS).

  5. Unveiling of Commemorative Marker of Birthing Station in Unisan, Quezon

    1 September 2011, Unisan, Quezon

    The Inter-agency Programme to Nurture Peace, Security and Decent Work through Local Development in Conflict Areas of the Philippines (Bondoc LED) identified maternal and child health care as a support component to pursue and ensure long-term economic productivity in Bondoc Peninsula. The event will officially unveil the commemorative marker of a birthing station in Unisan, Quezon.

  6. Turn-over Ceremony of Birthing Station

    1 September 2011, Mulanay, Quezon

    Turn-over of the birthing station constructed in Mulanay, Quezon. The Inter-agency Programme to Nurture Peace, Security and Decent Work through Local Development in Conflict Areas of the Philippines (Bondoc LED) supports upgrade, renovation or construction of birthing stations; training of midwives and Barangay Health Workers on Maternal and Child Health Care (MCHC) and provision of basic equipment for the birthing stations to improve access to better health facilities by mothers and children in the area. The support is a contribution of the project to the Philippine Government’s effort to reduce the infant mortality and improve maternal and child health care under its commitment to the Millennium Development Goal for 2015.

  1. Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring and Reporting Training for Implementing Agencies

    31 August - 2 September 2011, Quezon Province, Philippines

    To enable the selected implementing agencies to effectively and efficiently implement their action programmes with particular attention being paid to high quality data on the direct beneficiaries, the project team has requested support to organize a workshop on Direct Beneficiaries Monitoring and Reporting (DBMR) for its partners to prepare them for the action programme implementation, monitoring, and reporting.

  2. Training on Maternal and Child Health Care for Barangay Health Workers of San Narciso, Quezon

    31 August - 2 September 2011, Lucena City, Philippines

    The Barangay Health Workers (BHW) training on Maternal and Child Health Care (MCHC) aims to enhance local capacity to assist in Public Health service delivery particularly on women’s health and safe motherhood which is an important component in reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. The first level MCHC service delivery occurs at the barangay hence the role of “trained BHW” is also essential for the success of MCHC programme.

  3. 10th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP): "Diverse Voices, United Actions"

    26 - 30 August 2011, Busan, Republic of Korea

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) co-organized a series of events as part of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) at the 10th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) under the theme “Diverse Voices, United Action”.

  4. ILO-Silliman University (SU) knowledge corner partnership

    25 August 2011, Dumaguete City, Philippines

    The International Labour Organization (ILO) opened knowledge corners in schools, universities, and public libraries in the Philippines. Through a partnership with the ILO and Silliman University (SU), the first knowledge corner was established on 25 August 2011 in the Visayan region of the Philippines.

  5. International Seminar on Collective Bargaining at Branch/Sector Level

    24 - 25 August 2011, Harbin city, Hei Longjiang Province, China

    The seminar will focus on sharing international experiences on collective bargaining, particularly at industrial or sectoral levels. It aims to increase the cooperation between ACFTU, ITUC and ACTRAV. It is aimed at helping the ACFTU in promoting industrial or sectoral collective bargaining in China.

  7. Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Contingency Planning Workshop

    23 - 26 August 2011, Quezon Province, Philippines

    Poor families and communities in the Bondoc project sites are vulnerable due to their exposure to several risks such as climate-induce hazards, armed conflict and unstable sources of income and livelihoods. Local governments and communities also need help in coping with and mitigating the negative impacts of natural disasters.

  8. Pilot awareness training course on "Work Adjustment for Recycling and Managing Waste"(WARM)programme

    22 - 23 August 2011, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    The Green Jobs Project of the ILO is being implemented in Sri Lanka from October 2010 - July 2012. The project seeks to deepen ILO constituents understanding and commitments for the promotion of gender sensitive green jobs opportunities and a just transition for workers and employers towards an environmentally friendly development in Sri Lanka. A pilot awareness training course on WARM programme is therefore developed with the aim of promoting the safety health and working conditions of waste collectors and workers through the promotion of dialogue and cooperation between waste collectors and community.

  9. Value Chain Development in Solid Waste Management Stakeholder Consultation and Validation Workshop

    19 August 2011, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    The International Labour Organization ILO) together with Waste Management Authority of Western Province jointly implements a Value Chain Development (VCD) program for the Compost and Plastic Recycling sector. The overall objective of this workshop is to highlight the findings that focus on improving the competitiveness of the composting and plastic recycling sectors in order to achieve its potential for development of the local economy and to create more green jobs. Its purpose is also to bring all relevant stakeholders together to take actions towards making the sector effective and progressive.

  12. ADB-ILO Annual MOU Meeting

    15 August 2011, Manila, Philippines

    The ILO and ADB met for their annual MOU consultation meeting on the 15th of August in Manila. The meeting acknowledged the positive colaboration during the past year and decided to continue cooperating on the following areas: Statistics, Labour market Information, Education and Skills Development, Inclusive Job Creation Strategies/Green Jobs and Social Protectionn and HIV/AIDS. The meeting was concluded by the signing of an agreement to continue cooperation in the specific thematic areas during 2011-2012.

  13. Nepal: Campaign for Ratification and Application of ILO Conventions Nos. 87 and 98 in the Asia-Pacific Region

    15 - 19 August 2011, Katmandu, Nepal

    The Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ILO-ACTRAV), in cooperation with the International Trade Union Confederation-Asia Pacific (ITUC-AP) and the trade union organizations of Nepal, is running a campaign for the ratification and application of ILO Conventions Nos.87 and 98 in a number of countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

  14. First Philippine Green Jobs Conference

    15 - 16 August 2011, SMX Convention Center, Pasay City, Philippines

    The ILO recognizes that growth has to happen within the bounds of responsible stewardship of the environment. With the theme: “Promoting Green Jobs and Decent Work towards Inclusive Growth,” the ILO supports the conference through the Green Jobs in Asia project, funded by the Australian Government.
