  1. Labour market-responsive entrepreneurship skills training for disadvantaged youth in Maguindanao

    14 - 18 November 2011, TESDA-ARMM Training Center, Brgy. Rebuken, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao

    The entrepreneurship training for disadvantaged youth is currently implemented in the four (4) pilot provinces: Masbate, Antique, Maguindanao and Agusan del Sur. It aims to promote entrepreneurship as a career option, a priority to address youth employment challenge. It employs the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB), the entrepreneurship training program of ILO.

    14 - 18 November 2011, Pinnacle Suites and Functions, San Jose de Buenavista, Antique

    The entrepreneurship training for disadvantaged youth is currently implemented in the four (4) pilot provinces: Masbate, Antique, Maguindanao and Agusan del Sur. It aims to promote entrepreneurship as a career option, a priority to address youth employment challenge. It employs the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB), the entrepreneurship training program of ILO.

  3. National Workshop on the Draft of SME Development Plan 2011 – 2015

    11 November 2011, Hanoi, Viet Nam

    ILO Country Office for Viet Nam in cooperation with Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Enterprise Development Agency under Ministry of Planning and Investment organize a national workshop to gather comments for the draft of SME Development Plan 2011 – 2015.

  5. Roundtable Discussion and Seminar-Workshop on the Improved Use of International Labour Standards in the Judiciary

    10 - 12 November 2011, Makati City, Philippines

    The International labour standards (ILS) adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) are important tools for the development of national legislation. However, the contribution of international labour law is not limited to its impact on labour legislation. ILS can also contribute to strengthening domestic case law on labour matters. International labour law is a highly valuable resource for domestic judges and arbitrators seeking to settle labour disputes. Together with the comments and analysis of the relevant supervisory bodies, ILS offer a rich source of interpretation and inspiration for interpreting and complementing domestic laws.

  6. Training of Trainers (ToT) for Ecotour Guides

    7 - 10 November 2011, Bromo, Indonesia

    The training is designed in a way to encourage the participants to be active and propose ideas on how to think, act, train, and advocate to other people on the principles of community-environment-tourism to support the achievement of sustainable tourism in Bromo-Tengger-Semeru area.

  7. Strengthening the Role of Trade Unions in the Protection of Vietnamese Migrant Workers

    1 - 2 November 2011, Hanoi, Viet Nam

    The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the ILO TRIANGLE project are organizing a workshop to strengthen the role of trade unions in the protection of migrant workers. The workshop on 1-2 November 2011, aims to raise awareness among trade union officials at different levels about migration trends, labour migrants’ vulnerabilities, the existing law and policies relating to contract-based Vietnamese overseas workers. The workshop will result in a draft VGCL Policy and Action Plan on the Protection of Migrant Workers.

  1. Users Training on Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System (CLKSS) for the Provincial Child Labour Committees

    27 October 2011, Catarman, Northern Samar

    The establishment of a multi-level functional system on child labour is one of the strategy directions under the Philippine Program Against Child Labor (PPACL) Strategic Framework for 2007-2015. The IPEC Programme, through its strategy on knowledge management, will build the capacities of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Child Labor Committee (NCLC), and other relevant government agencies and social partners has helped develop a system that would facilitate the utilization of data especially in support of national and local child labour policy development and programme design, implementation, and evaluation. This system is what we call the Child Labour Knowledge Sharing System (CLKSS).

  2. ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour

    24 - 25 October 2011, Bali, Indonesia

    The 4th ASEAN Forum on Migrant Labour will be held on 24-25 October 2011 in Bali, Indonesia. Under the theme 'Effective Implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers', the Forum will address two enduring challenges: promoting harmony, understanding and rights in host societies; and promoting return, reintegration and sustainable alternatives to labour migration. The Forum is an annual event with participants from government, social partners and civil society organizations.

  3. 2011 Asia Regional Conference on “Advocacy towards the Ratification and Implementation of ILO Convention 189 on Domestic Workers”

    24 - 26 October 2011, Manila, Philippines

    The 2011 Asia Regional Conference on “Advocacy towards the Ratification and Implementation of ILO Convention 189 on Domestic Workers” seeks to bring together again domestic workers’ unions, trade unions, civil society groups and other social movements in the Asia region to serve as catalysts for national and regional initiatives towards the ratification of the Convention for domestic workers.

  4. ILO Capacity Building Programme: Working with UN. Workers and Employers contribution to Achieving Decent Work in a changing regional environment

    20 - 21 October 2011, Colombo, Sri Lanka

    The Regional Unit for Partnerships is supporting Geneva colleagues (EXREL, PARDEV and INTEGRATION) to respond effectively to the requests of the Governing Body (TC committee) to assist workers and employers organisations to increase institutional capacity to mainstream decent work into UN processes, with a special focus on social partners participation into DWCPs and UNDAFs. This workshop is part of a series of bi-partite training for social partners - similar workshops took place in the Africa and the Americas region in 2010, and the Arab region in 2011

  5. High-Level Meeting on Labour Inspection

    20 October 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    In the world of work, labour inspection is the most important instrument of the state for ensuring labour law compliance in the areas such as industrial relations, wages, working conditions, occupational safety and health, and social security.

  6. ILO Workshop for the News Media: Strengthening Media Communication on Gender and Employment Issues

    20 - 21 October 2011, Jakarta, Indonesia

    The ILO Jakarta Office committed to disseminate and raise awareness of gender equality to all stakeholders, including the media. ILO will organize a workshop for the journalist from various media in understanding and communicating gender in employment issues.

  7. Workshop on the Management of Migrant Worker Resource Centres in Cambodia

    19 - 21 October 2011, Bali, Indonesia

    In order to deliver better information and support services to potential and intending migrant workers in Cambodia, the TRIANGLE project is supporting the establishment of Migrant Worker Resource Centres (MRCs) in three provinces: Battambang, Prey Veng and Kampong Cham. The agencies responsible for managing the MRCs (the National Employment Agency, Cambodian Labour Confederation and the Phnom Srey Organization for Development) and the three provincial departments for labour and vocational training will receive training at a workshop in Kampong Cham, on October 19-21.

  8. Regional Conference on the Contribution of Indigenous Peoples to Local and National Development

    18 - 19 October 2011, Veruela, Agusan del Sur and Butuan City, Philippines

    The Regional Conference on the Contribution of Indigenous Peoples to Local and National Development will gather multi-sectoral convergence partners and stakeholders in the development and protection of ancestral domains in the Caraga region.

  9. Training of Trainers (ToT) on Start and Improve Your Business (SYIB) for National Vocational Rehabilitation Center

    17 - 28 October 2011, Cibinong, West Java, Indonesia

    It is generally more difficult for persons with disabilities to start their business than fornon-disabled persons, due to many barriers peoplewith disabilities still face in their environment (including reduced access togeneral education and skills training), entrepreneurship training can give persons with disabilities, especially women, opportunity for starting their own businesses and employment opportunities.

  10. Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006 Summit

    17 October 2011, Intramuros, Manila

    This event will be an occassion for the Maritime Tripartite Industry Council to endorse the ratification of MLC, 2006 to the President of the Philippines.
